Layover in Atlanta?

The only flight we were able to book for upcoming cruise has us having a layover in Atlanta for an hour and 15 minutes. Is that enough time to get from Concourse A to Concourse B? We are flying Delta both legs of the flight.

Also, do we have to go through security again (we’ve always had non-stop flights anywhere we go, so I’m not sure how the connecting flight process goes).

Thanks!

It should be plenty of time as long as your first flight doesn't get delayed. And you won't have to go through security.

You should have plenty of time if your first flight is on time, but it's potentially more complicated than getting between A and B, as Delta flies out of T, A, B, C and D (and E for international flights). You don't have to do security again, unless something really weird is going on, but if you are going between concourses you will need to go down a level and walk through the tunnels or take the train to get to your next flight.

Go on to ATL's web site and print a layout of their airport. Note the gate numbers. If you get off the plane near the end of the terminal, it can be quite a walk just to the stairs for train. Then you wait for the train (each side of the hall has a train for one direction or the other)...and hopefully don't miss your stop.

Then back upstairs and walk again to the next gate, which again, can be a long walk if it's near the end.

If your incoming flight is running late...or in the classic case of Delta at ATL, you are sit on the tarmac without a gate while the minutes tick away, you need to know exactly where you need to go and how to get there fast. If you end up doing a full out sprint, you can't waste time getting lost.
This exact scenario has happened to us on Delta at ATL: we landed on time but then waiting a half hour on the plane waiting to pull up to a gate...then had just minutes to run and take a train and run again. Barely made it.

Study the airport. Find out your next gate as soon as you get off the plane (either at a monitor, or ask a Delta person). Sometimes they tell you connections while on the plane, but confirm them on a monitor...they change a lot. Don't get caught in the Delta squeeze.

Thank you! That was really helpful. I'll check out ATL's website for the layouts.
