Hi Guys

We have been to Disneyworld 6 times now but are visiting Disneyland for the first time in about 6 weeks.
I understand there is no magical express in CA and that Disneyland is about 30 miles from LAX airport so pretty steep in a Taxi.

Does anyone have any suggestions of the mosy convenient and cost effective way of getting from the airport to Disneyland??

We called our DVC member services but unfortunately they weren't very helpfull and simply told us they don't do transfers from the airport to Disneyland in California.
Thanks
Gregor

I just got back. Here's what I did:

Super Shuttle is a convenient way to get from LAX to Anaheim, with curbside to hotel door service. Signing up on-line ahead of time saves you a couple of bucks on the $16 one-way fare, but you can buy your tix when you arrive if you prefer. The only downside is the curbside agent appeared disorganized handling the invasion of the stupid tourists, who stumbled out from the terminal onto her curbside.

Also, the shuttle did 3 full circles of all the terminals trolling for a few more passengers. I found out SS will only leave with a minimum of 5; van fits 8 passengers max. I was the 3rd person to board so just when you want to get your vacation started, it seems like the circling takes a long time. On our second circle we picked up 2 travelling together, and on our last circle (the natives were getting restless by this time), we picked up a traveller who was unceremoniously dumped from a rival shuttle service who only had that 1 passenger in their van. Then, we were off! The van was clean, the driver friendly, and we arrived at my hotel quickly. :cool1:

I was travelling solo; if there are a few in your group, it might make more sense to rent a car. Someone who is more familiar with DLR might have a better suggestion. Have a magical trip! :goodvibes

cheers,
:flower3:

Thanks for the reply, that helps a lot. Can't wait for trip to start. The next 6 weeks is gonna drag

Keep in mind something that Pete said on the show - Make sure that if you choose the Disneyland Express (DLE), PRE_PAY YOUR RESERVATIONS IN ADVANCE!

Folks have been sucked into the "falsifications" by other bus companies trying to tell you they are the DLE. :scared1: If you pre-pay, then they will back off and leave you alone.

One more thing, make sure you go to the Gray Line Bus website, they almost always have a discount coupon on there, too.

Mt recommendation is to fly into John Wayne in Orange County instead.

I think it is closer and a lot less conjested. Just a thought for future trips. :)

Unfortunately, not all airlines fly into John Wayne, making LAX the best cost decision and a necessary evil.

That being said, Long Beach and Ontario are nice choices, as well.

Unfortunatley didn't have any choice of which airport to fly into. We are flying in from the UK with Virgin Atlantic and they only seem to fly into LAX.

I've had no problems using Super Shuttle from three of the aiports mentioned: (LAX, Orange County/John Wayne, and Long Beach).

I pre-paid my shuttle and gratuity in advance online and brought my confirmation with me. At Long Beach, I was the only person going to DLR, so I had my own "private limo service".

I must have caught lucky breaks at LAX and SNA, because I never had to do that "circle trolling" thing for extra passengers.

Disneyland Express!!!! We had a much better experience with them than Super Shuttle. I agree about pre paying. You also get a slight discount if you pre pay.

Rosie - you got lucky at LAX.

The circling thing is mostly an LAX thing. SNA isn't built like LAX, with it's 9 terminals. (FYI - the international terminal is right smack in the middle of the U.) I've never been on a shuttle where it didn't circle (and I traveled out of that airport weekly for 3 years). At SNA - they really only have 1 pickup point (maybe 2).

FYI - as someone who used to have to take Super Shuttle to the Airport weekly and had to stop doing that and do town cars, instead, take the DL Express. Or be prepared to speak up and control your driver.

Why? Most people don't know that with companies like that, each shuttle is owned and maintained by it's own driver and quality and ability varies tremendously. I had my fair share of drivers that drove too quickly and too erratically that it would make me nauseous. Oh - and the hanging air fresheners... yep...

You know what you are getting with DL Express - the others are a crap shoot.

We used a private towncar service and it was about $80 one way...if you would like the information PM me. My family is not real big on shuttling with a bunch of other people.
