LAX car rentals?

Hello!
How do the LAX car rental agencies rate in regards to getting customers in and out quickly? Which has the most streamlined service?

We are Emerald Club members at National and we just pick any car we want from the Emerald Aisle, drive up to the checkout booth, and go. All my credit card info is stored with my profile, so I don't have to give them anything to checkout but my ID and Emerald card.

Several other agencies have similar programs, but some of them still require you to wait in line (it's supposed to be a faster line, but when I used Dollar's, it took just as long).

There are several ways to get a free Emerald Club membership... I don't know of any off the top of my head, but I'm sure someone else here does.... (maybe check the transportation board??).

Thanks so much for the information! I remember Dollar was super fast in Orlando, so it is definitely good to know ahead of time not to expect that in LA.

I've also heard that Alamo has a similar program (Quicksilver) to National, and the Mousesavers.com site has some tips on how to get free memberships to both. So it looks like I will probably use one of those.

Last week I rented a car from Dollar at LAX. I arrived on Tuesday at 9:30 and was on the road by 10:00 (no waiting for luggage). Not bad. I enrolled in their Fastlane program (they will mail you two coupons for upgrades). I did have to go to the counter, but I was served next and there were about 10 people waiting. The return was a breeze. I reserved an intermediate but received a premium (Chrysler 3000) for about $23 per day (Tues to Fri). I was very happy with the experience.

I can definitely deal w/30min time btw landing and driving off! I read another review in which someone got in and out under 30 min. Dollar's rates are great, so it is good to know that it is possible to get in and out quickly w/Dollar. Since we are arriving at the same time (9:30), we will probably end up using Dollar's Fastlane.
