Tuesday 23 February 2010 - Day Six

Eric had another disturbed night, waking up initially at 3 am. I eventually got up with him at 7.30 am and we got Andy up at 8.15 am. We all had breakfast, got ready and set off for the Magic Kingdom at 9.50 am. Parked up, did the usual trudge to the tram and then the ferry (monorail was far too busy again).

We got a FP for Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and the were having a walk round when a lady came up and offered us her Peter Pan FPs which we gratefully accepted. We went to ride that first. Eric wasn't too sure about it, which surprised me, though I suppose it is very dark at times. We did It's a Small World next which Eric much preferred. Buzz was next and Eric enjoyed that too and held the gun - we even got a few points!

Whilst we were in Tomorrowland we met the talking trashcan. We've not seen him before and were really impressed. He started talking to us and asked Eric's name. He told me that I needed to clean my shirt because it had Pooh on it! He also said that we were practically related as we are from the United Kingdom and he is from the Magic Kingdom! Before he left he asked me and Eric to hug him, which we did. I am a bit of a hygiene freak so if you'd previously told me I would hug a bin on this trip, I would have laughed at you. Keep meaning to tell my mum because I'm sure she won't believe me!

It was time to get Eric changed so we headed to the Baby Care Center. These places are great and we found much easier for changing E as we could do it together rather than one of us having to take him in the restroom. The staff are really nice too. The lady today gave Eric Mickey stickers. When we came out the Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It parade was in full swing so we watched the rest of that before checking in for our ADR at The Plaza. We were called quickly. On the way into the restaurant we met the Mayor of Main Street which I thought was so cool and I was really excited about it. I have never even seen him before much less met him! He shook Eric's hand and asked him if he was enjoying the Magic Kingdom. He called me a spice girl and said he was married to the original spice girl - Old Spice!

We ordered a cookies and creme milkshake for me (the main reason for coming to the Plaza for me was to try one of these!), a diet coke for Andy and an apple juice for E. To eat I chose a tuna salad sandwich on a croissant with fries, And had a cheese steak sandwich with broccoli slaw and Eric had grapes, bananas and rice (we ordered him some chicken too but he didn't eat it). For dessert, Eric had cookies and milk. He enjoyed dunking the cookies into the milk and even ate a little bit! This wasn't the most relaxing meal we've ever had. Eric was seriously not happy for a lot of it, and it's so quiet and nice in there I felt like we shouldn't have gone. The other reason we wanted to go to the Plaza was because in the notes from our first ever trip I have written that we went to the Plaza but neither of us remember. We thought it might ring a bell when we got in there - but it didn't.

I requested the rest of my milkshake in a to go cup and then took Eric outside whilst Andy sorted out the bill as Eric was far too grumpy by this point. He fell asleep nearly straight after dinner which may explain his behaviour in the restaurant, though we're also pretty sure that he got at least four new teeth on this trip. I didn't drink much more of my milkshake, it was really nice but also really sickly so I had to give up on it. The food was OK, but I thought it had a bit of a stuffy atmosphere, don't think we'll be taking Eric there again until he is quite a bit older!

Whilst Eric was asleep, me and Andy had a look in the Yankee Trader shop and I bought a Mickey Mouse insulated cup. We also had a walk round the Christmas shop and then stopped on the bridge to watch the parade, which was when Eric woke up. We made our way to Adventureland and saw Lilo and Stitch so stopped for photos. Eric gave them both a love and seemed to particularly like cuddling Stitch.

We went to the Tiki Room next and Eric enjoyed the show. I was worried he might be frightened but he loves music so that won out. We also rode Pirates of the Caribbean which Eric wasn't too sure about, but at least it was a walk on.

We finished the day with tea at Pinnochio's Village Haus which was a mistake. The food was horrible. And that is coming from me who is easily pleased and will eat most things. We had a very watery diet coke (tasted of minging Magic Kingdom water - have you noticed the water from the fountains in MK is much worse tasting than anywhere else?) and a pepperoni pizza. We ordered mac and cheese for Eric and he was in a major grump again and threw it everywhere, oh joy. To be fair though it was all congealed and not pleasant looking at all. He ate the grapes that came with it but not the carrots which I can't blame him because we had to get some ranch dressing to eat them as they tasted so nasty.

We got the ferry back to the car park and walked to the car as we were too tired to wait for the tram and we were only parked in the Minnie lot so it wasn't too far. On the way back to the villa we stopped at Walgreens and Andy went in to get some more Bud Lites and some Bacardi Mojitos for me.

Eric woke up when we got back so he had a yogurt and some cereal whilst sitting on my knee and watching a Disney Channel movie called Up, Up and Away about a family of superheroes whose youngest son doesn't have any powers. I haven't seen it shown over here, and it was really good. Once we got Eric to bed we had cups of tea and watched the end of the film. I missed my Sky + box, no option to pause it!

We had our baths and then Andy had Bud Lite and I had a mojito and an almond joy chocolate bar. We watched some TV before heading to bed.

you seemed to get a lot done today, shame about the dining experiences though :headache:

A good day at MK, shame about theb restaurants. We have also found the Plaza to be 'stuffy' which is a shame as we like the food, and it is a calm peaceful environment.
