Wednesday 24 February 2010 - Day Seven

Eric had a better night and didn't wake up until 5.30 am and then managed another couple of hours in with us. Andy got up with him at 7.30 am and they woke me up at 8.30 am. We had breakfast, got ready and left the villa at 9.50 am. First stop was Walgreens as one of my eyes had swollen up and I wanted to speak to the pharmacist about it. He confirmed that it was just a sty and to try hot compresses on it.

We had a look in a couple of the cheap shops next. In the first one, we bought Eric a Walt Disney World 2010 t-shirt and a Tink cardigan for me. In the second shop we got a fridge magnet for my gran which said "I love you Grandma, Florida" on it, and for Eric's little friend, Alex, we got some Mickey stickers with his name on. We also bought some Minnie stickers with Princess on them for Alex's cousin, Freya, as they didn't have ones with her name on.

We then set out for our first visit of the trip to Epcot. Our first stop was a photo with Daisy ("Day") who we have not seen out and about in Epcot before.

We went on the Nemo and Friends ride. It was too dark in there to say whether Eric enjoyed this ride or not. I don't understand why the queuing area has to be so dark too, I could barely see where we were going - and it wasn't even a bright day outside.

We did Journey into Imagination with Figment next. We thought Eric might be OK with this as we play the song to him a lot at home, but he held on tight to me for the whole ride which implies to me that he did't enjoy it. After the ride we ran around some musical light up squares in the Imagination Pavilion which Eric enjoyed much more. We tried to send one of the email pictures but we couldn't get it to work so we gave it up as a bad job.

We went for lunch to our favourite, Yakitori House. I had Japanese beef curry and Andy had Teriyaki chicken. There was no apple juice available here any more which was disappointing, so we shared a diet coke instead. Eric ate a bit of rice but he was in a really bad mood again so Andy took him for a walk outside whilst I finished my curry.

We had our picture with Mexican Donald ("Don") who Eric loved and even sat on his knee. He was very excited in the queue and couldn't wait to get to the front.

It started raining whilst we were in the queue to meet Donald so we headed into the Japan shop for a look around. We bought two Hello Kitty biscuits and chocolate dip and a bookmark for my mum. When we had finished in the shop it was still raining really hard so Eric ate his HK biscuits and then we took him to the Kidcot Stop to make a mask. Of course, he got covered in felt tip pen, but he enjoyed himself. We were talking to a family from New York and their son wrote Eric's name on his mask for him.

We made our way back to the car and headed to the villa. Eric was asleep when we got back so Andy went in for a shower and I sat in the car with E and read a magazine. When Andy was done, we swapped over and I had a bath and Andy sat in the car with E. The boys came in just as I was getting out of the bath. Eric sat with me and had some grapes and a yogurt and then we all got changed and set out for Citywalk about 5.30 pm.

Our friend, Kari, had flown in today and we had arranged to meet her at Margaritaville at 6 pm. We arrived at Margaritaville just on 6 pm in the pouring rain and met up with Kari on the porch. We had never sat out there before and didn't know where it was, so I had to ring Kari to find out! It was two and a half years since we had seen Kari and of course therefore she had not met Eric so there was lots of hugging and introductions.

We ordered a pink cadillac margarita and mushroom cheeseburger for me, an Incommunicado and Cheeseburger in Paradise for Andy and a Miller Lite and Cuban sandwich for Kari. There was a band playing and Kari had already told us about the singer, John Frinzi, who she has met previously and knew was good. One of the guys playing with him that night was a member of the Coral Reefers (Jimmy Buffett's band), Doyle Grisham. Eric loved dancing to the music (which was very good) and clapping along - it was the most relaxing meal we had so far because Eric was so well entertained. Two of the ladies on stilts came by and made Eric a monkey and a dog balloon animals.

We ate our meals and Eric had plenty of the fries and some raisins that we brought with us. Kari had brought us all shirts to wear for the Jimmy Buffett tailgate she was taking us to the next day, plus lots of candy and some books and clothes for Eric. We had stuff for her too but decided to pass it on the next day as Kari was moving on to a concert after the meal.

After we finished eating, Eric spent a lot of time running around and going closer to watch the band - even shaking hands with Doyle Grisham! We all got dragged round with him, even Kari, he is a very sociable little chap. You could tell that the place was crammed with Parrotheads (fans of Jimmy Buffett) because they were so friendly and stopped to talk to Eric.

We said goodbye to Kari about 8 pm, after arranging to meet for breakfast at Port Orleans French Quarter in the morning. It was raining really hard by this point, so we ran into the Margaritaville shop to have a look round and then into the Universal Studios shop, but we didn't buy anything. Then back to the car.

Eric had some cereal and a yogurt when we got in and then went to bed. Andy had Bud Lite and I had a mojito and some jelly tots I'd brought from home and then we headed to bed too ready for an early start in the morning.
