Laura Surovik

I read somewhere online that Laura Surovik (Killer Whale Trainer) at SW Orlando has quit the Shamu Stadium and gone to work on Blue Horizons Dolphin Show instead since Dawns passing. Has anyone else heard this? I can't find the website I was reading to see if there's been an update, but somebody did leave a comment saying it was true, she's gone over to the Dolphins.

All the trainers rotate through the animals. So yes, a whale trainer, could in fact become a dolphin trainer.

The rotation doesn't happen very often, and it's usually the newer trainers that do this. The senior trainers of course have seniority and can choose what they want to do over the younger trainers.

Whether this trainer's move was a result of the accident or just moving along with her career in Sea World, I don't know. And I'm sure a lot of people will throw speculation out there.

"At SeaWorld, Shamu Family is still my first love since 1985. Honored to lead the Whale and Dolphin Team now since Jan 2010. Life is good!"

So, yes she has transfered to the Whale and Dolphin Team, but it was prior to Dawn's death.
