Laur’s and Andy’s Halloween Happiness Trip Day 14

Laur’s – 28
Andy – 29

Tuesday 2 October 2007

The wake up call came at 8.05 am this morning, and we managed to get up slightly earlier than usual at 9 am. We had been so tired the previous day that there didn't seem any point in trying to force ourselves up any earlier. It was raining very hard, so we decided to grab the umbrella and go down to the food court together so that Andy didn't have to struggle back with the food on his own. I soon discovered why Andy had nicknamed the Pop food court "Hell's Kitchen". It was absolute bedlam in there, so busy and so noisy. We got our food; a ham and cheese omelet, wedges, a banana, orange juice and hot chocolate and managed to find somewhere to sit in the furthest point of the food court.

After breakfast we made our way back to our room to get organised and then set out for the Magic Kingdom. We hadn't seen the new Monsters Inc show yet so made that our first stop. I made it on to the screen at the beginning with the caption "I have kissed a monster" then it showed poor Andy! I enjoyed the show a lot more than I thought I would, it was pretty funny and well done.

We got a fastpass for the Winnie the Pooh ride, and then went on Buzz, the TTA and the Carousel of Progress before using our Pooh fastpass. I was really pleased because I finally saw the one hidden Mickey in this ride that has been evading me for years despite how many times I have ridden.

We went for lunch at Columbia Harbour House where we shared starboard deck sandwiches, Miss Vickie plain crisps, a chocolate chip cookie and a fanta. After lunch we rode Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean and had our photo taken with Peter Pan and Wendy who were very chatty.

We got a pineapple dole whip float to share and wandered slowly out of the park. We were back at the Pop about 3.30 pm for showers, and heading back out to Epcot in the car at 5 pm.

When we arrived we wandered round to the America Gardens Theatre where the Beach Boys were performing. The heavens opened again and we found some shelter where we could still hear the band - I have to say I was disappointed. We got fed up after a while, so Andy went to get a Fosters from the Australia stand whilst I went to wait for Miyuki the candy lady. There was only one other family there when I arrived and I think that must be why I was lucky enough to get picked to have a candy made for me! I chose a pink penguin and was so thrilled with him. I kept saying "I can't believe she picked me!"

We had an ADR booked for Le Cellier so we made our way round to Canada for that. We had to wait for quite a while which wasn't good as we were both really hungry, but it was worth the wait. I showed both the person who seated us and our server my penguin as I was so proud of it!

We ordered a diet coke each and then choose drinks to have with our meals; Andy had a glass of Riesling and I had the blue glowtini with souvenir flashing ice cube. I was very impressed with both the drink and the ice cube - it is a lot brighter than the ones I have had at home in the past.

We ate:

Me: Cheddar cheese soup, Mushroom filet mignon, and campfire smores
Andy: Spicy sausage and chicken starter, Pork, and Chocolate Moose

This is the one place where I will definitely have to eat three courses even if we aren't on the dining plan, every one was delicious. I especially loved the smores and was so disappointed that I couldn't finish them, I was just too full. We waddled out of the restaurant to watch Illuminations which we enjoyed but for us it doesn't touch Wishes. I think it is ready for an update, there was so much of the globe and we couldn't even tell what the pictures were meant to be.

We headed to DisneyQuest when the fireworks finished. We avoided the Buzz ride and went straight to Pirates of the Caribbean. We were so excited to be allowed to have a boat to ourselves which we haven't been able to for years as it is always so busy, and did ourselves proud by getting the second highest score, Kings of the Caribbean (pretty good with just two people).

We played Tekken 5 for a while and then split up to play some arcade games on our own. Andy played on a car and a bike game, and I played Mario Karts for a while and by some miracle came 3rd and then 1st! Shame I had no idea what I was doing..... I also went back to Tekken 5 for a bit, and a young man (probably about 14) came up and asked if he could join me. I think he figured he had an easy match here. Sadly for him, I am a bit of a demon on Tekken and beat him quite easily, so he walked off after that. Andy was teasing me afterwards about being a Tekken hustler!

We left DQ and arrived back at the Pop about 11.30. We had a beer (Andy) and strawberry daiquiri (me) before heading to bed at 12.15 am.

Laur's princess:

well done on getting the candy made for you.

The food at Le Cellier is the best
