Laurs and Andys Halloween Happiness Trip Day 12

Sunday 30 September 2007
Our wake up call this morning was at 8.30 am, but all these late night/early mornings were beginning to catch up with me and I didn't make it out of bed until 9.20 am. Andy brought us breakfast back to the room; pancakes, bacon and sausages, orange juice and hot chocolate. After breakfast we got ready to go to Typhoon Lagoon for a lazy day before our second MNSSHP at night. On our way out to the car, Andy did some filming of the outside of the Pop Century.
We arrived at Typhoon Lagoon around 11.15 am. We got ourselves a big locker and towels and stowed our stuff in the locker whilst fighting off hoards of lovebugs. We had a trip round the lazy river first. Unfortunately, I find this more of a stressful river than a lazy one. I hate that you have to have cold water falling on you (and your sunglasses, grrr) all the time, I have been in quite a few lazy rivers and only experienced this phenomenom at Disney.
So, after one go around the river, I was fed up and we went to get some lunch instead. We shared a hotdog, a huge bag of cheetos and a large diet coke.
After lunch we headed to the wave pool and splashed about in the little waves. Andy is a bit more adventurous than me so he took in some bigger waves too. There was a photopass photographer in the water taking pictures of people as the waves hit them, and we decided to get this done. I was a little apprehensive as you had to go quite a way in to where the bigger waves were and watching other people having their photos done you could see they were trying to fix smiles on their faces which didn't read "impending doom". However, the photos turned out great so I'm really glad we did it, even if the power of the water totally knocked us off our feet.
We had a walk round the park after our photos and I thought about going on the Crush n Gusher. I think I might have been brave enough if it wasn't for the scaffolding-esque staircase you had to climb to get up there. It made me dizzy just looking at it, so we gave it a miss. Instead we got an orange fanta and had a walk above the wave pool where you could see the waves coming out, before going back and sitting in the waves for a while. After a while we went to change and bought our photos before leaving the park at 4 pm and heading back to the Pop.
When we got back, I phoned my mum and Andy did some more videoing and filled up our mug. We also called in at Everything Pop and I bought a towelling dress which I had seen a girl wearing earlier in the week. It is really cute and has a little Mickey on it - great for covering up after swimming or showering. We went for showers next and changed into our costumes - Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable. Thankfully, the weather had been cooler today, so it was a lot more comfortable for costume wearing. We had decided to drive tonight to see how it compared with bussing the other day and set off at 5.45 pm. As this is the first time we had ever driven to the Magic Kingdom, I had to get a photo of the gateway.
As we went into the park one of the CMs said to me "Hey, Kim Possible, what's the sitch?" which made me very happy. I loved all the attention we got because of our costumes, I wouldn't want to go without a costume again now after experiencing that. We had a 6.30 pm ADR for the Liberty Tree Tavern, another new experience for us, and we headed there. We weren't entirely sure where it was but we found it almost straightaway. We had to wait a few minutes, which was fine except that we were both soooo hungry. You have never seen anyone move so fast when our names were called.
The food is based on a Thanksgiving feast so we ate: bread, salad, turkey, ham, beef, mashed potato, green beans, mac and cheese, stuffing and gravy, washed down with diet coke. I liked it all except for the mac and cheese which looked like some kind of nuclear experiment and didnt taste a lot better. The dessert was apple crumble and ice cream, which would have been gorgeous except for the addition of minging cinnamon! How to spoil a perfectly good dessert.
We had a really crappy server who was so s-l-o-w. By the end of the meal I was itching to get out into the party, and never thought we were going to get there.
The character interaction was really neat and as it was MNSSHP, the characters had special Halloween additions on their costumes. I liked Goofy best, he was so animated, asking if we liked the food and constantly banging his head on the ceiling! Minnie and Chip n Dale were great too, I got an extra cuddle from Dale because I said Oh, you are soooo cute. Pluto, however, ignored me completely. He had a cuddle with Andy but left me out, hmmm. I pulled faces at him for the rest of the holiday.
When we f-i-n-a-l-l-y got out of there I was desperate to get some candy in my basket so candy collecting was first. One of the CMs walking through the park stopped us and gave us high fives for being Kim and Ron! We had our picture taken with Buzz who got us to do mission poses and tried stealing my candy!
We rode Winnie the Pooh and then headed to the candy chicane that is Toontowns Alice and Mad Hatters treat party. We posed with the Mad Hatter for a photo. He asked Andy his name to which he replied Ron Stoppable and the Mad Hatter said he was the first person all night to reply with their characters name instead of their own.
After our candy collecting exploits it was time for Hallowishes which was just as wonderful the second time round. We went to have our pictures taken with Pooh and Eeyore which was something of a military operation. They were switching out with Tigger and Piglet every half hour or so, so I went and asked the cast member when Mr Pooh was coming out and we got in the queue then. By the time we got to the front, sure enough it was Pooh and Eeyore.
After our picture we went to wait for the parade in Liberty Square. We saw Woody and Bullseye with no queue so ran over for this rare photo op. Bullseye stuck his nose in my candy basket!
We watched the parade and got loads of pictures, and I got tons of candy at the end because we were stood at the front.
After the parade, we scurried over for a ride on Haunted Mansion and had our picture with Timon and Rafiki. The CM with them told Timon to behave or Kim Possible would kick his butt!
We rode Pirates of the Caribbean and had the surreal experience of walking through Frontierland with barely a person around. We went to the candy stop there which was deserted, and we were rewarded with plenty of treats. As we were walking back towards Fantasyland, we saw the man with the dog and lantern from Haunted Mansion. He was amazing, he looked so spooked, it was a very special moment.
We danced into Fantasyland (yes, I mean literally, but there werent many people around by this point) and rode Peter Pan with no wait and just got on to the carossuel in time we were on it when the clock struck midnight.
We joined the hoards to pick up the picture of us in front of the castle in our costumes that we had had taken earlier in the evening.
We drove back from MK, arriving at the Pop about 1.15 am, had a beer and went to bed dreaming of our candy mountain.
