Hi all,
For some reason I am finding the idea of doing laundry on vacation as, well, horrifying! So, how many of you do laundry on the 7 night?

Thanks!
Anne

We did 2 loads on the 5th night. It wasn't that crowded either. I didn't mind doing it either, which is weird!

We had to on our last cruise due to a spillage!!! My DH did it and it was no fuss whatsoever... :thumbsup2

We did laundry on our first (or maybe first two?) cruises. NEVER AGAIN. It ate into our leisure time. I'm not one who wants to wake up EARLY while everyone is still asleep, or stay up late at night either while everyone goes to bed, to do laundry. I'm on a cruise!:)

We don't wash laundry unless we have a stain crisis :scared1: That being said it is just DH and I traveling.

We are hitting WDW for 6 days then DCL for a 3 night in November. We are trying to cut back on how much we take with us so we will be doing laundry before we leave AKV for the cruise.

My little ones get up early, so it wasn't a big deal to put in a load while they watched TV. Our room was close to the laundry - easy to put it in and come back when it was done.

Our option that we choose is not listed in the poll - we send our clothes out. Some people budget for Drinks of the Day but we budget for Laundry service! We spend 3 days before in Disney and send those clothes out as soon as we get our baggage. When we do a 14 night cruise I will wash ONE load of underwear. On our upcoming TA cruise we are each taking ONE carry-on so we will be sending even more out.

We did not do laundry on the 4 nite we took 2 years ago. On the 7 nite we took this year I did a few loads, maybe 2 on 2 different nites. I just can't stand coming home with alot of dirty clothes. We were on deck 2 and the laundry was pactically empty most of the time. It gives you a timer so you know when to return, it made life so much easier to have all of our stuff clean.

We are doing another 4 nite in March and I know I will do laundry at least once, probably twice.

I do understand that most folks don't want to do "chores" on vacation, it just doesn't bother me!! But then again we normally vacation in rental homes and cook and do laundry on vacation anyway!

I do laundry at least once - especially the bathing suits and rash guards - once they are in the ocean, if they don't dry perfectly, they start to smell REALLY bad... so I often throw them in together after an excursion.

Piece of cake to throw in one load on a seven day. I do it to cut down on packing or when in conjunction with a land stay.

Last trip I was at DVC for the week before the cruise and did laundry there. Started the cruise with all clean clothes (except for the day-before outfit). Still did a load with my sister mid-week on the cruise to have fresh jammies, undies and cotton slacks/shorts.

.

Sometimes one load if needed....not on a regular basis. Longer than 7 days, laundry is totally necessary.

I got a room close by the laundry room so that i can do it IF I need to or want to and it'll be close by. Last cruise it really wasn't a hassle at all. With the new restrictions on luggage on airlines I fully intend on packing less this year which means a shirt or two will probably have to be worn a couple times. And after a few days I will definitely want to wash the bathing suits. I just find it icky to wear them more than once without washing them. Especially if they've been worn all day or in the ocean. Don't get me wrong, I WILL NOT be doing it everyday, but more than likely I'll slip a load or two in.:laundy:

Not a chance! I've never gone longer than a 7 day, but adequate clothes for the whole stay fit easily into a standard suitcase for me.

I'm not terribly high-maintenance about clothes and couldn't stand the idea of hanging around the laundry room on my vacation!

My opinion exactly!

On a 7-day, people can get a little feisty in the laundry rooms. I did a load on day 2 or 3 and it was fine. There was no waiting or anything. I did it while my son was napping (our room was very close and I could see it actually) The next time I tried to do laundry was tricky, everything was full, I just came back abotu 20 minutes later and it was fine, the third time (yes third time) people were actually waiting in the laundry room. They had called dibs on dryers, even if other people's washes were finsihed first!) People were getting rude with each other and it was pretty uncomfortable.

We were in Florida for 3 days before our cruise. We cut back on clothing and decided to do a load on the ship for this reason. Plus we workout out every day, and after a few days we have to do laundry.

You don't have to stay in the laundry room - just put in the clothes, it usually tells you how long the loads take, show up a couple minutes before that and then swap and do the same for dryers....

Same here. I've yet to walk in to the laundry room and find a washer/dryer available. (Not flaming anyone. With 2500 people on-board, it's understandable that they're going to be full.) It's not the chore of doing laundry ITSELF that I've a problem, it's spending my time in the laundry room waiting for a washer/dryer.:bored::hourglass

DW did 2 loads on the ship. She loves to read, and she sat in the laundry room with a book, so she said it wasn't a big deal. 2 loads a week WAS a break from the typical 30 a week DW was doing at the time at home (during baseball and soccer season when our kids were wearing 3 seats of clothing a day!!) at the time.

We have started packing better. More mix and match clothes and did not have to last cruise.
