bavaria, I had no idea I'd get so many responses to this! BTW, I am in the sw suburbs of Illinois in Mokena. I really appreciate all the help.

:sunny: We're just try to keep you smelling clean and fresh during your vacation, I guess!!! Have fun!

Update~ I just came from Target. In the aisle where they sell travel sizes, I found cute little bottles of Tide liquid for 99 cents. They are good for 4 loads each. I bought three. Again, thanks for all the suggestions, you guys are the best! :cool1: :goodvibes

I've used these little tide bottles the last couple of times we went on vacation and they worked great. In fact, I think I got 5 or 6 loads out of one bottle because the washing machines at WDW are so small. Have a great trip. Somehow, doing laundry is so much more fun at WDW than doing laundry at home! :rotfl:

I don't care for the tabs, they left residue on our clothes that last time I used them. For our last three trips, I too have purchased the little bottle of Tide (99 cents)from Target. I just make sure the cap is tight and put it in a double ziplock. Haven't had a problem.

Not sure if it helps anyone, but I just got back from my (german) grocery and Persil still makes tablets.

Persil tablets

I personally don't like Persil, but at least there is still a manufacturer. Also keep in mind that most European washers are front loading.....

fast fingers + slow internet = duplicate posts!

I thought Amway had a laundry tablet, according to their website they don't. However, I was right, because someone is selling a box of 48 on ebay, item #4412927179. Ends in about 2 days.

Upon a little more research, I found where the apparent new name for amway must still sell these laundry tablets. look at http://www.quixtar.com/products/product.aspx?itemno=100297
Maybe a little pricey? I'm not near an expert.

Two weeks ago WinnDixie was selling a cold water Tide bottle for around $3.50. Way more than I needed but cheaper than any other alternatives there. Walgreens on Apopka-Vineland also sells the little bottles and boxes of Tide for $1.

We purchased a couple hundred thousand Laundry Tabs right before they were banned by the food and drug administration and now sell them on Ebay for $2 each. That's how we paid for our DVC membership.

:rolleyes1

I buy that powdered laundry detergent that comes in a bottle. I think it is called Fresh Start. I put it in a big ziplock bag just to make sure there isn't any accidents while it travels in the suitcase but I haven't ever had any.

Where did you get this Fresh Start stuff. Sounds like a good solution to me. Last time we were down I went to a $1 store in Orlando and bought their liquid detergent. NEVER again. I threw it away. It didn't clean anything and it smelled horrible.

I used these tabs when I was on vacation in Puerto Rico. They work very well and one tab is enough for a medium load. Thanks for the lead.

It's been a while since I bought Fresh Start but I know I have bought it this year at Albertson's- I'm from Oklahoma so if we have it here- you ought to have it anywhere. I've bought it over the years quite a few times usually for my Disney trips. It's in a bottle with a handle almost like liquid tide but the bottle is clear and the powder is blue. Next time I go to the store I will look and report back on who makes it.

I just used your link to buy a case of 96 tablets. I'm not sure it was any bargain at $48, including shipping. It comes to around .50 each.
I find them handy, not only at Disney, but wherever I travel. I might have extras if anyone needs them. :)

The Persil ones I saw were just over $1/tab, and the boxes at Disney are $1/box, so you did well!!!

The hot laundry thread is still going strong!!!!!!

Yeah, can you believe it? I'm still struggling with how I ended-up posting here too! Good luck.

We fly over from UK and don't want to take any extra baggage with us (especially white powder!). Can we buy a supply of washing liquid from Goodings?

Many thanks

Susan

Don't shop at Goodings if you don't have to. Go to the Winn Dixie or the new Publix (my favorite) which are very close to Goodings and offer a much better variety of foods and sundries at a much more affordable price. That Goodings is only good for a quick pick up of milk or juice, but even then, they are way over priced.

Crossroads Area

Crossroads is a shopping plaza located at SR 535 and Hotel Plaza Blvd in Lake Buena Vista. The area includes shops and restaurants (Pizzeria Uno, Perkins, Taco Bell plus others).

*Goodings - www.goodings.com

Lake Buena Vista - SR 535 & Hotel Plaza Blvd (407) 827-1200
Open 24 hours
Located at the end of Hotel Plaza Blvd in the Crossroads Shopping Center near Downtown Disney.

Prices tend to be geared toward tourists rather than locals.

Winn Dixie - www.winndixie.com

11957 South Apopka-Vineland Rd, Orlando (407) 465-8600
Open daily 6 a.m. to midnight

Pharmacy, 1 Hour Photo

This location is located approximately 1/2 mile north of the Crossroads Shopping Center on the right side of the road. Go to the end of Hotel Plaza Blvd and take a left on Apopka-Vineland Rd (535).

Winn Dixie has a customer rewards card that gets you weekly specials. The card is free and can be obtained on the spot. You can download an application and have it already filled out by going to their website.

Publix (www.publix.com)
Regency Village Shopping Center (Store #00812)
8145 Vineland Ave
Orlando, FL 32821-6847
Main: (407) 238-9924
Fax: (407) 238-4650

Make a right onto 535 at the end of Hotel Blvd. Go under highway 4's overpass and immediately get into the left hand turn lane for Vineland Avenue. Turn left onto Vineland Avenue.
Go past Marriott World on the left, the Outlet Stores on the Right, and immediately after the new Mc Donalds you will see a new shopping center with a brand new gigantic Publix.

Also in that same shopping center you will find a CVS (I think it is open 24 hrs) and a bunch of small stores including a UPS store. If you go around to the side there a few restaurants--Pass them all by until you get to the Venezulean Restaurant. My husband and I ate here the last time we were down from NJ and loved it. The prices are CHEAP and the food is so good you won't want to eat anywhere else. The restaurant, I wish I could remember the name, is owned by one large family and they all help out. We were always the only Gringos in there but they loved us and taught us about their food which can be quite flavorful with spices we in the US don't normally use. The owner's daughter has only been in the country for 2 years but speaks english like a native.

Go to Sears - they do have the tablets. It is in a bucket and I can't remember the name of the detergent however, I believe it is one of their brands. We used them last year and we will again in 2006.

Good luck. :cool1:

I posted the same thing earlier....but, no one seemed to jump on it. They are called "Ultra Plus", and they are "packets"....loose powder in a dissolveable membrane...they are essentially the same as tablets. They are an item that Sears seems to carry all the time. They work really well.

I looked online for these but they only seem to carry these. Has anyone else found them? I'll check our local store over the weekend. Annmarie
