Hi,
I do not remember, are there mid-cruise laundry specials, such as 30% off? I will have to do laundry, and don't feel like paying the full DCL prices for the service. In the past I've always hit the laundry room very early in the morning, and that works, but not really wanting to do that this time. TIA

We were on for 14 nights (WBPC) and NEVER got a laundry deal. I probably would have sent stuff if we did get one.

I've never seen a laundry special in the six DCL cruises we've been on, including two 15-nighters.

Laundry prices are already very reasonable on DCL. I don't see the need of them offering "specials."

I also think that a big part of why they don't is they do have the self-serve laundry. The ships I'm aware of that have the specials do not have self-serve laundry rooms.

It costs $2 for each of use of a washer (at least it was on the Magic a couple weeks ago). Is it really worth saving 60 cents per load of washing? I think the prices are quite reasonable as is.

I would suggest that since you think the price is too high and you do not want to do the laundry yourself that you bring enough clothes so this will not be an issue.

I too have never seen any type of laundry special on any of my Disney Cruises. I have been on the receiving end of my fellow passengers offering me free detergent, dryer sheets and on occasion the last few minutes on the dyer.

You aren't crazy for asking... three years ago, we sailed out of Galveston on the Wonder for a 5 night Western Caribbean. On day 3, they sent us a bag and a note stating they would launder anything we could fit in that bag for $30. We stuffed that bag FULL and washed everything we could. If you leave out the pants, it's amazing how much you can get done.

We have been on 6 Disney cruises and that's the only time I have seen that offer. I think it is pricey when paying for a family of five so I use self service if I feel like getting some laundry done. But every time we sail, I hope that deal comes along. It was a fraction of what it would cost vs. paying for regular laundry service.

Thank-you to Mumfan who understood and answered the question.

Oh! I get it now! Wide Awake is asking about a potential sale on the "pick up" laundry service so he/she can avoid the self-service laundry rooms. I totally misunderstood at first. 30% off the in-room laundry price could really add up, and also might generate some extra business for DCL, so I can see why they might offer it. Good Question!

Thank-you Jenmiller, that is exactly what I was hoping for. I have had experience stuffing the laundry bags on other lines, and you're right, you can get a lot in them : )
I will hope for the best but be prepared in case it isn't offered.

I hope we have this special too. This time we will be visiting WDW after the cruise and I honestly hate doing laundry on vacation. Since we fly, we don't want to pay more than 1 checked baggage per person.
Pixie dust!!

Don't they throw all laundry in hot water, though? Best to be aware of what can and can't be put through that.
Yep, all washes are hot water. And dryers are on high heat. That's one reason I use the self serve - you can at least set the temps you want.

It's actually quite interesting to see the responses here. Definitely can tell who has only sailed Disney and who has sailed other lines.

I'm a crazy laundry person. I want to keep all the laundry done as much as possible. On Disney's ships I do laundry...maybe not quite as frequently as at home but I do it often enough. On other lines who don't offer self-serve laundry facilities I'm always watching for the laundry special. I typically ask our stateroom host early on so they'll know I'm looking for it. We spent 2 weeks on NCL Escape in May. I used the service as much as possible. Our host knew we were on for a long time so he made sure we had a supply of the bags and assured us whenever we wanted them sent in he would see to it that we got the "special" price. So, anything I was okay with them washing/drying/folding without special instructions went in the general bag. Anything that needed to be hung to dry, not shrunk, etc. went as dry cleaning. No problem. I absolutely LOVE laundry special bags. LOVE! It's fabulous to not do laundry on vacation but still have the laundry kept up. I WISH Disney did the laundry specials on the ships AND at the resorts.

Then there's learning the art of Tetris'ing a ton of clothes into the bags to maximize the value.... Challenge accepted! :thumbsup2

Tetris is a real life skill! Shopping carts. Suitcases. Packing the car. Loading a flat-rate laundry bag. It's a thing! :D

Makes me so glad I spent all that time in college practicing this important skill so that I could properly fill a discount laundry basket! And to think, I might have wasted my time... STUDYING. Phew.
