Benjamin Moore "Shaker Beige" looks great with red.

I LOVE my red and yellow combination in my kitchen, but the apple green suggested by a pp would be beautiful as well. Go for something nice and bright - it will make laundry less of a chore if the room is nice and cheery!

I have a larger house (5 beds, 3 baths, 3 living areas, huge kitchen) BUT the laundry room is pathetically small for a house this size. (You have people to fill five bedrooms, they might have some laundry...)

Thinking of that small laundry room that the OP and I both have, I think that some of the colors mentioned, while fun, would be overwhelming in a small room. I have tried some very interesting colors in my house and using end up repainting pretty quickly. I never tire of the light, creamy yellow.

What color are your doors/trim? Brown or white? I think I'd like yellow with brown/wood, tan or gray with white trim.

What type of feel do you want in your laundry room? If you plan to have a rug, how about picking that & then choosing a color from the rug? I would pick a nice cheery yellow but that's what I have anyway. I'd love a red set but only have a white washer/dryer. I love my laundry room - yellow w/yellow/green/blue striped valance.

Your question makes me think of that decorating show hosted by Jane ??? -she has people pick off a color wheel. A tan would make the washer/dryer pop but another bright color will create a different feeling.

Okay I went to the Depot this morning and bought a nice neutral brownish tan named Endless Desert. (and, ironically, that is where the laundry room is located..) It goes well with the red and also with the rest of my home. The brown was alot like the Fortune Cookie color posted above and there was a paint chip brochure that had a red appliance with this paint as walls and a nice buttery yellow paint on shelves. Nice. Nice. Nice.
