Laundry??? Really?

I bring enough clothes for seven days: on the seventh day I do laundry.
I get up early in the morning and on the day I do laundry I can have everything done by 7:30morning.
IMO doing the laundry makes it easier at the airport, as all my stuff fits into one shoulder bag, and I do not have to wait in long lines waiting to pick up a suitcase in Orlando.


I bring a folded up nylon bag with me to carry souvenirs home.

We were there 7 days, packed 7 clean outfits (tanks and shorts) and added a couple jeans & warmer t's if it got cold. I planned ahead and brought laundry soap and dryer sheets, but ended up not needing them. I prefer NOT to do laundry on vacation, but if we were in a villa with machines right there, I probably would have. If we were going for 10 days, I would have packed less and done it 1/2 way through while the kids were swimming.

One tip I got from the DIS was to pack two mesh "popup" hampers. They fit perfectly under the sink at CSR and we used one for lights/one for darks. Then when I packed up to go home, each hamper got emptied into a suitcase (lined w/ plastic trash bag) and there was no sorting when I got home! Our third suitcase held our souvies and non-dirty clothes (not many!), toiletries, etc.

I guess I'm cheap. Even though we have lovely summers here at home, I just don't own enough pairs of shorts to make it through our average WDW trips without doing laundry.

When in a condo I always do laundry. I have two stinky teens and love not having a bag full of smelly clothes on the way home.

I wasn't planning on having to do laundry for our first trip w/ kids in 12/04, but it was inevitable..... half-way through our week long vacation, my girls ran out of clothes-I'd overpacked for them, but due to food accidents/rain showers/sweat/etc.... by day 5 we needed to do the laundry. We were staying at the Beach Club (not the villas) and the laundry room was always full... I set my alarm for that 5th morning for 4am to be able to do the laundry before the rest of my family got up so we could enjoy that whole day w/ clean clothes!

Mental note for upcoming trip: PACK EVEN MORE!!!

We always do laundry when we travel in the states. We bring enough clothes for the whole trip but then we do the laundry and bring back clean clothes.

We travel to the Caribbean and we dont do our laundry there. Too much time and harder to do.

I would much rather carry dirty clothes home than spend precious Disney hours doing laundry.

I would do my laundry at Disney only if I had to. I'll be taking a 10 day vacation this year. I may have to do the laundry. I know my kids have enough clothes to go that many days. I don't know if I do. Oh well, I may have to go shopping! Anything to spend more hours in the parks.

On our first trip with DS who was 4 at the time we did not plan on doing laundy but had to because DS got sick halfway through the trip. It wouldn't have been so bad except he got it all over his favorite blanket. Since that had to be done we might as well do the rest of the laundry.

On our last trip there were now four of us... DS 6 and DD 2... There was no way we were going to be able to pack for 10 days for the four of us. Luckily we had a rainy evening 1/2 way through the trip. Went back to the room and I did the laundry while DW put the kids to sleep.

Who here finds doing laundry easier/more convenient at the moderates as comapred to the deluxes. Both POR and CBR have laundry facilities at each quiet pool. WL has the one facility which is probably about the size of one of the CBR laudry rooms.

I always seem to end up doing laundry when we're gone more than a week. It was really easy to do it at POFQ, because the wash room is right by the pool. I hate the price ($2 to wash or dry), but it's worth it to be able to pack light!

We are DVC members (laundry facilities in the villas) It is sooo easy to throw a wash in at night. We are leaving tomorrow and its a joy to pack "light" plus less laundry once I get home. That said, I wouldn't go "out of my way" to do laundry if it wasn't right there.

We definately do laundry everyday....It's so easy in a villa.

I did laundry on our last trip. It was October and we were there for 7 nights. I always lather on the sunscreen in the AM, then we come back, shower, and change to go out for the evening. So I go thru two sets of clothing a day. It was just easy to throw in a couple of loads so we didn't have to pack that many outfits.

We did laundry last year on our Sept. trip. It was so hot and humid we were going though 2 outfits a day and anything that was worn was definitely too smelly to wear again. It really wasn't a pain to do laundry at all. The machines at POP were right outside our room in the 90's section. We're going back this Aug, and I'm sure we'll be doing laundry then too.

I always travel with my little laundry kit for a trip of more than two nights for a couple of reasons.

I don't like to check my luggage. I don't like checking anyone's luggage, but I'm resigned to it when I travel with DH. If the kids fly with me they pack light. When we drive they can pack whatever they please.

I don't want to lug a bunch of stuff around with me. I'd much rather spend the 15 minutes or so it takes me to handwash a few things than deal with the steamer trunk DD travels with. (Can anyone explain to me why anyone would need to bring five swimsuits on vacation? Does anyone, other than my DD, even own five swimsuits?) The rule at our house is you pack it, you tote it. It's been this way since darling daughter (18) discovered fashion 7 years ago.

I just bought a popup hamper yesterday at target! I too had read that tip here and wondered why I hadn't thought of it before. We've been using those plastic bags that are clipped to a hanger in the closets, which hold hardly anything. After a few days dirty laundry begins to, lets just say it, smell. I thought if I could put a trash bag in the hamper for the dirty clothes, I could remove it at the landry and use the hamper to haul the clean clothes back to the room. I'm so excited about my upcoming vacation that I'm even looking forward to laundry!

We just returned home from a 2 and a half week vacation. We don't own enough clothing to make it for 2.5 weeks. I did laundry three times while we were gone - twice at DL. Washers there are only $1 a load and dryers are $0.50 a load. WDW is twice that.

But when we stay at WDW, we always stay at a DVC one bedroom or larger, so we get a washer and dryer in our villa.

i have the resort do the laundry and pay the $$$-i try not to do too many things on vacation that i would normallly do at home year round.

I'm firmly in the "don't own enough clothes not to do laundry" camp. We are going for 11 days at the end of Aug. With the heat and humidity, we usually end up changing clothes mid afternoon. Last year, I would do laundry mid afternoon while my DD2 took her nap. That worked out pretty easily.

This last trip we took (June 10-17) was the first time we didn't do laundry but it was one of our shorter trips. Otherwise, I always plan a mid-trip laundry day.
