Alright....packing a little ahead of time. How do I pack laundry detergent? Do I need to check it or can I put it in my carry on if it is not liquid? Surely someone on here has flown with laundry detergent and knows what I should do.:confused3

I have seen some posts that say they fill an empty dish soap bottle and then put in a ziploc bag in case it spills. Since it is liquid you cannot carry it on.

Personally, I take powder with me and I put enough for 10 loads in a gallon size ziploc and put it in my luggage.

I've gotten a small bottle of liquid tide in the trail size section of Target. It was enough for 4 loads. I just packed it inside 2 ziplocks in my checked luggage. It has never leaked though. You can try to carry on powder, but I wouldn't recommend it. I'm sure they will be leery of a bag containing a 'mystery' powder.

In all honesty, unless you plan on doing an awful lot of laundry, I'd just buy it out of the machines in the laundry room. Yes, it may be a few dollars more than buying and bringing it yourself, but its one less thing to worry about packing and possibly leaking.

Someone on here once mentioned DROPPS. They are available at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

If you go to the Bed, Bath & Beyond website and type Dropps into their search, you can see what they look like.

They are these little pouches of detergent. The pouches dissolve upon use in the machine.

They were very convinient and easy to bring with us. I put them in checked luggage obviously.

I also bring a zip-loc bag of dryer sheets from home.

Our family always has to do a load or two of laundry durring the trip.

Don't pack the powders or the liquid, Wisk has these laundry detergent TABLETS that disolve in the load. They are easy to pack and you just plop one in the water while doing a load. That way you won't have to worry about spilling liquids or measuring powders etc. Dryer sheets work great when drying your clothes. They don't weigh too much and they are easy to pack too.

I think that the Airport Security might even make an issue out of having a powder in an unmarked plain plastic zip lock bag but if it has wisk printed on the rapper they may let in on through. Especially if it not a liquid or a powder.

We used them on the Disney Wonder Cruise Ship while we where there the first week of October 2007.

Have a wonderful vacation :-)

We purchased small bottles of All liquid concentrate in the cosmetics travel section at Walmart for 97 cents each. Each bottle is the size of a travel shampoo bottle and does two loads of wash. My sister and I used one bottle for two loads of laundry at Pop Century in August. My clothes seemed as clean as they are at home. There doesn't seem to be any danger of leaking but I still put them in a ziploc bag. Next week, there are 5 of us staying at BCV. We will have washing and dryer in the villa. I usually throw a load of laundry in when we go to bed so we're bringing three bottles. I'm not a fan of powder so this was a great find!

I always pack the powder in my luggage. There has never been a concern or question about it.

I am using the 19 oz container that counry time lemonade or cool-aid comes in. You can fit enough for four loads of powder cheer in them. :laundy: The lids screw on and off so having an accident is less likely.
