We are staying in a studio for the first time at WL and we'll need to do laundry while we're there. Can anyone tell me how it works? DVC has free access to the laundry facilities, right??? Also, should I request a room close to the laundry or is it noisy?

According to dvcnews.com:

There are laundry facilities on the first floor of the villas, just past the elevators.

The laundry room is small, so don't plan on just showing up and getting several washers and dryers. There may only be two or three washers and twice as many dryers. Make sure you remove you clothes from the washer and dryer as soon as they are done.

Is it just a room of washers and dryers? Or is it the coin operated ones? I'm confused how it's free for DVC.

Thanks for the location info:thumbsup2

Yes, it's just a small room with just washers and dryers. It has the slots but try them without cash before you try cash. You'll need your VWL room ID to get into the room.

if its anything like SSR, they will look like coin operated machines, but they will be free.

I stayed there in August and it is on the first floor to the left of the elevators.
There were 2 washers and 4 dryers. I always found them empty after 9:00 to 9:30 pm at night. I would put in the laundry, go to the pool with my DD, and in about 35 - 40 minutes, things were done.

Just put things in and hit the buttons! Very easy. When I was there, the door was always unlocked and we didn't have to use our KTTW card to enter. It may be different now.

I used it for the first time during our trip to VWL Thanksgiving 2009 since my family was struck by an annoying stomach bug. I used the laundry facilities two times and a washer and dryer were open both times no wait. The washer and dryer are free but you either pay $1 for detergent or bring your own. Worked out great for me. I don't think I needed my key to get in the room but not sure.
