First I loved my first trip on DVC points. We stayed at BWV and we were right by the door to the quiet pool on the ground floor. It was so nice to not have to walk everywhere in the heat. We always used Values in the past and those interior hallways at DVC are the best!

I had one thing that irritated me while I was there. I went down to do some laundry and I put my stuff in the washers (2 loads) and noticed that one dryer had clothes in it and appeared to be finished. The third washer was empty. I checked the time and left until my stuff was done. I came back and that dryer still had the same clothes in. Put mine all in one dryer and put it on timer for 60 minutes. Came back and that dryer still had the same clothes in it. Some people said I should have just removed them but I hesitate. But having one dryer increased my time by about 45 minutes. And just as I was leaving with my dried stuff some woman comes in and heads to that dryer. I am not very confrontational so I just let it pass, but is it the norm to just leave your stuff there? :confused3

The few times I've used the laundries at Disney it's been a common occurrence. If necessary I would remove the clothing if it were dry and would accept it being done with mine.

Well, my experiences with this have been living in the dorms and then apartments after. If I needed to move someone's things out of a dryer, I actually folded it for them. It was weird, but I thought better than dumping a wrinkled pile on top. I would totally be okay with someone moving my things if I didn't get back in time. To that lady in your scenario, I would have said something like, "oh, good. You came back. I was wondering about those clothes!" Not confrontational, but sorta makes the point.

Take them out and put them in a safe, clean place.

It's like when someone leaves food in the microwave at work at lunchtime. I wait a minute and if no one comes back for it, I take it out.

The only downside to a studio is not having in room laundry. Timing is everything. Last time at the BWV I was about 1 minute behind an individual that had just loaded both washing machines... At around 11:00 pm I thought I'd be alone!

I've never had to remove anyone's clothes but if put in the position I'd respectfully place them neatly on a clean surface but would not actually fold them.

I have done laundry on a couple of vacations. I wait an appropriate amount of time (for me this is 15 minutes) and then I move their stuff. I don't fold either. There is usually a folding table so it goes there.

One time they hadn't came back even after I was done so I put the stuff back in the dryer. They never were the wiser.

Personally I am a "do unto others..." And I would not be happy with Anyone touching my personal items. As well, I always set my timer so I'm alerted to return to pick up clothes as soon as they're ready. We've actually had our clothes removed still wet as another person took the dryer we were using!. I understand the frustration of waiting on a dryer where clothes have been sitting for hours. I would like to see an employed attendant present to bag and remove items when needed or maybe assign a pager with each machine to give the user a 5 minute alert. Until then.....

I am actually the same but the thing is this is easily solved. Stay in the laundry room while doing your laundry. I don't like others touching my laundry but I'm willing to accept that if I don't stay with it. Kidani is nice because it has a TV but I usually just read. If the laundry room is stifling or something then I check back frequently. And I don't want my laundry folded if I've gotten detained - that's ick to me. Just place it somewhere safe and clean as if it were still sitting in the dryer.

Agree. If you don't want anyone touching your laundry, stay with it the entire time.

If colleges can have washers and dryers text people when their clothing is ready to be removed/moved, then certainly DVC can do the same!

That would be awesome!

I personally stay with my laundry or if I leave I am back before it is done. I do not want my laundry touched. As for other people's clothing if it is done and they are not back then out it comes. Generally if I am sitting there I know what clothing has been forgotten and who will be back momentarily for theirs.

Can I just say how much I love my 1 bedrooms :goodvibes

I'm a do unto others as well. And since I'd want to be able to do my laundry when I get there, if my dry laundry is in the dryer, I'd WANT you to move it. Because I wouldn't want YOU to be inconvenienced by MY laundry if its just sitting in the dryer - I wouldn't want to be inconvenienced by yours. I think if my laundry is so important no one can touch it, I should stay there, if not, something else more important came up - like pool time - and I certainly wouldn't want my pool time to interfere with someone else's laundry.

This is just as bad as the time when I went to BLT and one woman was using three washers at once... really? there are other flippin' people at the resort you know?

Now we tend to do laundry late at night, we relax sitting in lounge chairs by the pool to unwind but we keep a timer on our phones a few minutes shorter than the laundry cycle so we arrive just about when it ends so we can either move stuff to the dryer or pull it out to fold. I really get irked by inconsiderate people who think the laundry room at resorts are their own personal laundry room using all the available resources.

This literally just happened to me. I'm at AKV, and towards the end of my dryer time, my DS1 fell asleep on me in the room, and had a much-needed 2.5 hour nap. I wasn't about to wake him up to get my laundry. Sent my husband to get it when he returned with DS3, and he said it had been pulled out and put on a table. Thanks to the person who did that. I was feeling guilty, but a little guilt beats an overtired baby. I think it's key to remember that rude people are actually the exception in situations like that--likely, there is a legitimate reason (even if your def of legitimate differs!).

Agree with people that say it's okay to move it. This happened all the time in college---either I was the "mover" or the "movee", LOL!!!

We're all on vacation, and nobody wants to spend more time than they have to doing laundry!!

I suspect that happens a lot. You stick it in and then you end up just getting busy and not getting back - a napping baby, or a baby that woke up from a nap but is inconsolable. A six year old whose "one more jump" and "one more slide" at the pool means you miss getting to the laundry room by half an hour.

Although I also suspect a lot of people are just rude.

If someone else not touching your laundry is really important to you, you have three choices.

1. bring enough clothes that you don't need to do laundry
2. get a one bedroom or bigger so you have your own washer and dryer
3. stay with your laundry or at least make sure you are there before the dryer stops running.

That would be awesome, but this is Disney we are talking about. Do you remember how long it took us to get online booking. :rotfl2:
