Laundry & debark issues...

DH, DD and I are going on our first DCL cruise in a few weeks -- woohoo!

This board has been so helpful but I still have some questions that I haven't found answers to...

Laundry: I've seen the suggestions on bringing detergent, etc., but does DCL offer laundry services (i.e. they do it for you)? If so, any idea on cost? It will be MUCH more $$ than using the W/D myself I know, but there's always the cost of time to consider... We're spending a few days at the parks before the ship, so NOT doing laundry on DCL will result in either (a) too many clothes and not enough suitcases or (b) offending other passengers. lol

Debark: What time do you have to be off the ship? Are taxis readily available at the dock, or do I need to call one? (Going to National Car and they don't offer a shuttle)

I am not sure of the cost to have DCL do your laundry, but in Nov. we did 5 nights at the Beach Club and the 4 night cruise. The last day we were there I went down to the laundry room at the hotel and did our laundry. It was at the quiet pool so I just layed in the sun and used the pool while I did my laundry. It wasn't so bad. If you do do your own the Tide tablets are very handy and don't take up much space. I am not sure what time you have to be off the ship but I think that it is before 10 AM. I am not sure how the laundry is handled on the DCL, however in the Poly one year we sent out our daughter's favorite footsie pjs to the hotel laundry because after drinking her red punch she decided to bring it up and share it again with the rest of us and the front of her pjs. The pjs went out in a child's size 6 and came back small enough to fit a small baby doll. Um, I guess they got them clean at least! We never laughed so hard in our lives but we did have to find a new favorite pair of pjs in Disney for her. That is the one thing I would consider when you send things out with the laundry. Just be sure it isn't something that will shrink if they do have to wash it instead of dry cleaning it. Good luck and enjoy!

Oh my -- what a story! Imagine my horror if they did that to ALL our clothes! Then we'd *really* be offending other passengers!

The laundry room is lookin' better and better...

On our recent cruise, I sent one womans blouse to be drycleaned because it had an oil drip and it cost $4.00 + $2.00 for same day service. It came back perfect and the oil spot was totally gone.

Everyone must be off the ship by 9:00 am the latest....you can start debarking as soon as the ship clear customs which is usually around 7:15 or so.

I know DCL will dry clean or press your clothes, but I do not know about full laundry service. To have things pressed is 50% of the dry cleaning price.

Not sure if taxi's are waiting or if you have to call. I would think some would be there already.

We did 3 days at WDW followed my 4 on DCL. The laundry rooms at Wilderness Lodge were packed the day and night before the cruise, so when we boarded I went straight to the laundry rooms, which were empty, and threw in our clothes - then I headed out to do our ressies. I was able to get everything clean before the laundry rooms started to fill up the rest of the cruise.
