I will be at the Poly for a week with a friend and 4 children. I anticipate that we will need to do some laundry.:(

We will be in Tahiti (concierge, yipee!) and I can see form the map that the laundry room in another building.

Am I missing something or does this mean we need to lug our dirty skivvies across the resort? Down the hall, or even on the elevator is one thing, but I'm a little conserned about the sight of me dropping socks all over the Poly grounds.

Anyone have any tips?

We bought the wire frame/mesh collapsible laundry hampers for our trip.... you can either go that way or buy the big heavy canvas laundry bags like I used in college. Yes, you have to lug it across the grounds so make sure you plan a way to carry it. I separate it in the room and bring my own powder detergent (double packed in ziploc bags with just enough for one load) and dryer sheets.

There is a little room with a couch and TV.... It's not that bad... just try to find a time when you can use several machines at once.

Many people pop their clothes in and leave. I am just not that brave! :)

Have a great time on your trip.... concierge is the best!

I use my rolling luggage! Sort in the room and rolled it right into the poly laundry. and then folded and packed in the poly laundry after it dried. Worked very well, was much easier than carrying. The tahiti building is very close to the laudry area it is on the same side of the resort as the laundry. Poly also has the dry cleaning and paid laundry service if you are interested but expensive.

MKY ;)

Thanks.
Rolling in a suitcase sounds like a great idea.
Either that or I'll save my pennies for laundry service. And nickels and dimes...and quarters and fifty dollar bills!!!;)

We stayed at the Poly 7/2000 and I did laundry on Wednesday. I would try to avoid Wednesday if you could. I think it was mid-trip for most people and the place was packed! Of course we have 4 kids and I was doing more laundry than anybody! I also did not want to leave my stuff there. People were actually asking to be next in line for washers so it was quite the all morning production. I did make friends with lots of other guests doing clothes at the same time. Our youngest was not feeling well that morning, she threw up in the room, so it would have been a stay in the room day anyway for us. We just joined DVC, mostly for the in unit washer/dryer!!!

One last laundry question.
Do the machines take quarters or can you swipe a card (credit, room, or ?)?

The machines take quarters. Be aware that the changer in the laundry room does not change $20 bills. I think the arcade has a machine for that, although I couldn't find it at the time I needed it. Ended up having to stop another quest walking by to try to change my 20 for smaller bills.

We used my dd's carriage to transport the laundry. We put it in bags and then put the bags in the carriage and wheeled it to the laundry. We were in Tahiti also and it wasn't far at all.
