I have done laundry at CSR right after it opened and they had a very clean laundry room, everything worked. After reading JoeDisneys trip report I'm wondering a little about the condition of the Poly laundry room. Thinking about making a sign telling others to stay out of my Dryer (LOL).

Bumping,

Since I will probably do laundry at the Poly before moving over to AKL.

Mamadonna, what did JoeDisney's report say?

Joe had a wonderful report, which I highly recommend for anyone.

Joe stayed at the GF and apparently some of the washers/dryers were out of service so he had to use multiple laundry facilities. In the end he wound up with some lady's panties that were not his wife's. Very Funny.

That's hysterical.

So nothing bad about the Poly's laundry.

I've used the Poly laundryroom on a couple of trips and like it much better than the one at the lodge I used at GF (we were in Sugar Loaf which has no laundry facilities). All other lodges at the GF have a SMALL room. Don't care for the set-up there at all.

At the Poly there is a small waiting room with a TV and some seating. The laundry room is a decent size with a number of washers and dryers and a folding area. It's clean and everything was working each time I used it. The bad part is $2.00 per load for both washers and dryers these days. I haven't used it since the price went up a year or so ago.

It has always been in good condition when we are there.

I've used it as well, found it to be clean, well lit, and plenty large.

That's great!!!! I worried when I read that the flagship resort GF had bad laundry rooms.

$4.00 for a load of laundry????? Geeeesh For that i hope the dryer actually dries the clothing.

Don't know how true this is, but, I've read in other posts that the dryer only runs 15 minutes??????????

If you have a small load, one dryer cycle will probably do the job. If your load is large, I'd probably plan on two dryer cycles. The dryers do run longer than 15 minutes though. There are really a lot of washers and dryers in the laundry room. I always take the Tide tablets and some Bounce fabric softener sheets so I don't have to buy detergent.

Used the laundry and found it great. No one was using it so was able to run to pool and back to check it without ever anyone even being in there. If you will look closely to the bubbles on the wall in the laundry room you will find a hidden mickey, too!

Good luck and have fun!

I have used the poly's laundry on at least 4 separate trips and NEVER found the laundry empty let alone uncrowded!

In our resort survey I sited it twice last year as an area that needed immediate attention! On both trips I saw at least 1 major fight break out. and people backed up waiting in line fighting over machines. We went at bad hours too, last time was about 11:30 pm at nite thinking its late should be better & it was 10 times worse!

I think maybe with the cruising now & alot of people cruising staying at the poly they need to do laundry? Or with luggage restriction's on airplanes? Not sure but huge amounts of laundry people taking 4 machines and 6 dryer's.

Poly has 6 regular washers and 1 super washer Plus 12 dryers ;)
I am positive, I stood by my stuff the whole time, it was down right nasty. The 2nd attempt to "go in" we packed the rental car and drove around looking for a regular coin laundmat, for no pressure. But could not find one, came back and wound up in the same situation. This time in the afternoon, thinking people at the park we got in right away and used the washers (2) but had a wait on the dryer's and by the time we got done it was packed again and people were backed up waiting again.

I really think this room is too small for the size of the resort, there are a lot of people using this room and it can get heated when people are in a hurry to find out they are not gonna get done quickly.

Our trips where in august & October last year, so beware if that's when your visiting. Hope mentioning it on the survey brings it to there attention cause there is no attendent there from the poly. Its just "guest" and they could of used a referee a few times.

My 2 cents:

The poly has the NICEST laundry room I've seen yet at Disney. Except every resort has those cheap dryers that take 2-3 cycles ($4-6) to dry!!! Its obvious why they keep those el-cheapo dryers...more profit! :-) But seriously, I cant see any other reason for having such bad dryers. :p

I did laundry before we left for our cruise last August, at 6:00am. There were two others in the laundry room at that time, but I had no problem doing four loads (one man was finishing drying his stuff by then--I have no idea how early he started!) It seems that the earlier you start the better off you are. Late at night they are always more full.

I agree wth Anne...get there early. I've always gone about 6:00am and have had the place to myself. In fact it's almost spooky. You do need your room key that early.

Ok, I will willing set my alarm for 5am! If it means I will be in there with no problems! Trust me, I would just of been thrilled to go in, do wash & read a magazine, & get done with no upset or hassels. Anyway used to getting up that early for work any how! ;) Thanks for the tip! MKY :D

This past December I did laundry twice at the Polynesian: once on Thursday evening around 7 p.m. (one other person was there)and once Sunday morning at 7 a.m. (no one else was there). IIRC, the dryers ran for about 30 minutes.
