Hi, I hope someone can answer this for me. We are staying at OKW next week for the first time. We are in a studio (just DH & me). Currently, I am in the middle of packing, and I can't decide. Should I take everything for the week & no laundry? Or should I take about half that (save hubby's back at the airport) & do laundry? We are planning to do a midday break (at least I will try not to get carried away & beg to stay in the parks---It's a mantra I keep telling myself: you can come back, you can come back...;) ), however I have never done laundry while on vacation before--it seems like such a sin! So before I stress too much, how long does it take to do one load of wash? And how long to dry? I was hoping that the magic of Disney made the laundry go by super quick...

Thanks to anyone who can help,

Laundry rooms for the people staying in studios at OKW are located near the pools. There is no cost to use them. We always do laundry on vacation, but we usually have a one or two bedroom with the washer and dryer right in our villa. Try it out (bring your own detergent or buy some at the store there) and see how it goes.

The machines near the pools take about 25 minutes for a wash cycle and about 35 to 40 for a full dry. I washed 3 times during our recent trip. ;)

I've done laundry at OKW often when staying in a studio. If it's not busy and the dryers are available, split one load from the washer into two of the dryers. The load will dry faster. There are two washers and 4 dryers in each of the laundry rooms near the pools.

Chuck is right. Done it several times myself.

I would pack less - bring detergent and fabric softenor with you. (or be prepared for disney prices).

With the 1BR that have a washing in the room, do they give you detergent?

You will get one single load box of Tide in the unit when you check in, and they will give you another on Trash and Towel day. We don't use Tide, so I usually bring my own from home or buy my prefered brand when we grocery shop. I used to like the tablets, but last time I took an Oxy ball with, and that was a great way to do it!

Thanks to anyone who can help,

My wife does not do Laundry on vacation and she also does not carry her own bag as she needs to carry the baby.... Funny when we are a the mall it is me who needs to carry the baby :confused3

But the laundry rooms look nice and the seperate room in the one and two bedrooms was sure nice looking as well and a great feature as well and they do include one small box in the 1-2 BR or one load
She had to wash when baby got poop on his blanket :lmao:

I did about nine or ten loads of laundry at BCV last week. About 5 the day we arrived from a week at the beach and then a few more before we left. Nothing like taking home suitcases full of clean clothing.

There are machines to buy individual boxes of detergent in the laundry rooms also. As PP mentioned they are free although they look like you need to put coins in them. My husband found that out after he went to HH and got quarters for the machines (told CM that was what he needed them for) and then had a roll of quarters to get rid of on the rest of the trip. Too bad CM didn't know or see fit to tell him he didn't need them. I was off somewhere else when he decided to do the laundry or he would have been saved the trouble.

My DH and I stayed at a studio for a few days at OKW before moving to the Grand Villa. We (or should I say he) did the laundry in the early evening and when we were lounging at the pool. It worked great for us and all of our clothes were clean before we arrived in the GV.
