Our WDW vacation is less than 1 month away.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to do LOTS and LOTS of laundry for our family of 6.

1. Is Laundry located at ALL comfort stations?

2. We are in the cabins. Is there comfort stations close by?

3. Can I drive my laundry to the comfort station. I read there is a "non-driving" policy at FW. Please explain.

4. Is Laundry facilities open 24 hours?

5. How much do I expect to pay?

6. Can I avoid all this and send everything out to a laundry service?

6. I have no idea

hope this helps sorry its a little vauge

You can get into laundry rooms after hours as long as you have your room key.

There is no parking at the comfort station so I wouldn't park out front. Seen it done but wouldn't recommend it. If you're renting a cart, you could park outside. Most comfort stations have a small area the employee's use when cleaning/ maintaining.

If you can afford to send laundry out for 6 people at Disney please come by and get me. I would love to belong in your family lol.

LOL! :rotfl:

Yes -- I probably can't affford it at Disney prices especially with the amount of laundry we generate :scared:

Thanks for all the answers everyone!!! I hope there is enough machines so I can get everything done in about 1.5 to 2 hours.

As for driving it. You have 2 choices. Have someone drive you there and drop you off and head back to the site. Not recomended as kids might be everywhere. Or get one of those colapsible shopping buggies and cart it over. We bag ours and put the bag on a colapsable luggage carrier. That carrier stays in the trailer always. It works for everything too. So I guess thats 3 options now. Enjoy your trip.

During the Christmas holiday we had a tough time finding machines open. There are 5 washers and 6 dryers in the 900 loop CS and they were occupied a LOT. I dont recall having this problem in the past, I think there were a lot of people there for extended stays. The machines are not all that big and the dryers work well only if not overloaded, if you dont try to cram an extra pair of jeans in the wash the dryer can usually handle it. IIRC we did about 15 loads during our 12 days there.
$2 to wash and $2 to dry, soap and color safe bleach are available for $1 each for a single load box.

I have always done laundry during each of our stays at the fort and for the most part have had no problem finding unused washers and dryers. For the most part our campsite has always been fairly close to the comfort station and I enlisted the help of DH to bring clothes over and this is my "quiet" time to reach while the laundry is being done.
I would recommend you save your quarters for the machines. I already have saved 6 rolls for laundry and tolls and ice machines!

The comfort station for the cabins is centrally located between all of the cabins behind the swimming pool between the 2500 & 2700 loops, and there are 8 washers/8 dryers. If youre doing laundry at midnight they will probably be open and their is plenty of room to park a cart outside of the laundry room or at the pool. I did laundry at noon on a tuesday and had no problems at all. I had 7 in my party, so its smarter to bring a bottle of detergent than buy it out of the machines.

heres a map of the campgrounds, the laundry is located in the lower left quarter where the pool icon is. You'll be assigned to a cabin in one of the loops 2200-2800 surrounding that.

15 Loads in 12 days?!? :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy:

That certainly is alot. How many in your party? For the three of us on our 10 day stay at the beach last summer I did 2 loads there and 2 at home. You can reduce the amount you wash if you don't change your drawers every day. Like I tell DS, a bathing suit can be substituted as underwear and it is self washing every time you go swimming. :thumbsup2

And yes, I do the laundry. I don't let DW do the laundry, she doesn't know how to get the skid mar... er, stains out. The secret is to buy new Fruit-of-the-Looms every couple of weeks.

We had 3 teenage boys with us so the clean clothes are a mandate every day. Included in that was 2 days travel on the way down and a load of truck/trailer washing towels. I run a clean ship ;)

1. Is Laundry located at ALL comfort stations?

Yes

2. We are in the cabins. Is there comfort stations close by?

There is a laundry facility in the comfort station next to the swimming pool in the cabin section.

3. Can I drive my laundry to the comfort station. I read there is a "non-driving" policy at FW. Please explain.

You can, but there is no place to park your vehicle.

4. Is Laundry facilities open 24 hours?

6am to 12 midnight. After that you need your room key to open the doors.

5. How much do I expect to pay?

The last time I did laundry at FtW it was $2.00 to wash & $2.00 for 20 minutes dry time. Someone will correct this if it is wrong, I'm sure.

6. Can I avoid all this and send everything out to a laundry service?

You can call the Front Desk at FtW.... 407-824-2900. They might have laundry service available at the cabins. :confused3

I hope this helps.

I would rather have clean underwear myself. To me they aren't a dealbreaker to save room or have to wash. Maybe I'm being metrosexual lol but I just can't be dirty or wear something dirty. I mean, I can go out and work and get dirty, but to put on something dirty to begin the day is nasty.

Everyone's answered your questions well, but I would like to add:
We usually wash clothes a couple times when we are there and during the day is the easiest time to find machines open.
Also, we usually fill the washers up and run each load in a dryer for the 20 minutes, take the dry things out and combine the two loads of still damp items into one more 20 minute load.
Last, we take our powder detergent and powdered bleach in little premeasured baggies so you just dump them in for each wash. Saves space and time and you aren't carting detergent or buying it there.

When I was in survival school, our first trip out in the swamps we all took an extra pair of socks and underwear, which got ruined within 5 seconds of being dropped off in swamp water. After that, we got used to wearing underwear for 6 days at a stretch.

I don't do laundry at FW.

Statements like that will certainly have a negative impact on the crowd at your next Kungaloosh gathering :lmao:

I found these laundry sheets called WashEze. They come 10 sheets in a box and each sheets contains detergent, fabric softener, and dryer sheet. You just put one sheet in the wash load and then transfer it to the dryer. Works well. I couldn't try it at home because I have and HE machine, but I tried it at my mom's over Christmas. We did not have any super stains, but it cleaned them. I carry a tide to go pen for the stains. I like the sheets because they don't take up much space, weigh a lot, or leak.

Before I found these, I would premeasure the powder detergent into snack size ziploc baggies and put them and dryer sheets into a gallon ziploc bag. I hated that the detergent sometimes spilled, but it worked pretty well.

Yes, the $2 to dry is not for enough time to acutally dry everything. Great tip about combining the things that are still damp.

I will be doing laundry twice during our upcoming trip which would make about 7 loads. Yippee for me. I too use it as my quiet time and do it during the day. I use slave labor (er I mean my kids) to bring the laundry to the laundry room. I will see how it goes this trip with 11 of us. My bff will be doing her own laundry for her and her kids though.

Happy laundering!!;) :laundy:

Thanks for the GREAT tips! We are planning on visiting Tampa before WDW so I'll probably buy a big thing of Liquid detergent. What about morning washings. There is a couple of times where we are going to SLEEP IN LATE. I guess I'm more concerned about how to get my laundry there vs. what is available. I hope the cabins are near a comfort station.

Can I drive and park, quickly put my stuff in, and then drive off?
