We will be doing several loads of laundry while on holiday at Cars suite in AoA and just wondered how much the laundry detergent costs? I know they have tide but can't remeber how much it costs.

We are trying to weigh up whether to order any or just get it at the resort.

Thanks in advance.

Take some of those squishy, one-use laundry pods of your preferred detergent. We did that last year, since I have sensitive skin. Very little suitcase space and much cheaper overall. Just store them in a ziplock, in case one leaks.

We bring our own pods like LynJ does.

Given you used the word holiday my guess is you are traveling internationally and luggage space will be at a premium. For several loads it will be more economical to order it! Plus you can get the scent (or lack thereof) that you prefer!

We pack the pods in zip lock freezer bags. In case they leak. Doesn't take up any room in suitcase. Some pack them in the small plastic Ziplock containers.

Yes, sorry for late reply.
We are travelling from England and will be in the world for 3 weeks. Last time we went we did laundry and found the detergent they supply was ok but I seem to remember it being fairly pricey and nothing special.
I would bring my own tabs but after a bad experience of one bursting through 3 ziploc bags!!! Yes 3!!! LOL I am loathed to try that again.
I think as we are ordering from garden grocer we will buy some from there but I have no idea what smells good and their selection is limited.

Thanks for your replies peeps, much love.

Does anyone know if there are washers and dryers in the Hawaii longhouse at the Polynesian or if you have to use the ones near the playhouse?

There weren't the last time I stayed there and don't think that has changed.

Some use plastic Tupperware like containers for the pods. 3 bags wow! They used to make Purex sheets that had the detergent in the sheet. Really easy to pack. Then you put sheet in dryer, it was fab softener too! Great travel product, too bad they don't make it anymore.

Prob ordering small liquid detergent from garden grocer is easiest. At home I use the Kirkland (Costco) pods, or Tide.
When traveling, I pick up whatever is on sale and comes in a small jug. Except Gain. Can't stand the smell.

We go to Florida for just shy of a month. We are in Ft Lauderdale 10 days, and Wdw 14 days I have a rental car until Wdw, we return it after Wdw check in. So I buy a detergent while in Ft Lauderdale. What evers cheap. Before I leave for home I leave what's left in laundry room with a little sign explaining to help yourself.

They type they sell at the laundry rooms is a powder type, one box per load.

I bring pods from home or order from Amazon.

I think they cost was $1 per load of detergent, so not terrible. The laundry rooms now pretty much all take Mastercard or Visa I think (no Amex).

If you can bring powder type that may be better than the liquid pods! I always bring (or order) dryer sheets.

Thanks for all the advice and help, it is much apreciated.
I think we will order from garden grocer and just leave whats left with a help yourself sign in the laundry room. A very small pay it forward which I am all about doing. :)

I know OP's question is resolved, but thought I would throw this out there in case it helps anyone wanting to pack pods in their luggage and is nervous about the potential mess.

Arm & Hammer laundry pods are not liquid, they are basically concentrated powder in the dissolvable pod. Or at least the bags I've bought have been. I would still put them in a ziploc as I wouldn't want them directly touching my clothes, suitcase, etc., during travel, but even if one popped it wouldn't leak out of the bag the way the liquid can. Not sure how available they are overseas.

We don't have most of the US brands over here in the UK. We don't get Tide, Gain, and Arm & Hammer only do toothpaste here...lol

Thanks for the heads up about the pods though.

Last trip they had switched from Tide I thought to some "eco friendly" powdered soap. Not a big deal but I know some diehard Tide fans!

I find it easier to bring whatever pods I have - less time fussing with buying the soap there. Definitely I bring lots of dryer sheets!

I noticed this too - would have felt better about paying the dollar if it was still Tide, lol...and I had to rewash everything after we got home (even unworn) because the eco-junk didn't work well & smelled funny! Last time I forget my travel detergent/dryer sheets ;)

they have an app you can down load and it tells you how long the loads have left & and there is availible machines.
