I would use the laundry machines, and do it myself. Question is, can I trust to leave it and go to my room or something. Or, like at home, do I need to watch it like a hawk?

Ok, gotta ask, you need to watch your laundry like a hawk at home?

But to answer your question, personally, I leave and have never had any issues. Those rooms are often hot and noisy, not exactly the most pleasant place to hang out. Once or twice I have lost track of time and come back to find someone has taken it upon themselves to take my items out of the machine and leave it on the tables. One could maybe feel some kind of way about that, but frankly I get it - more my bad for not being timely.

Yep, like a hawk. We live in Brooklyn and the public laundromat is a haven for homeless looking for clothes to either wear or sell. Sad, but what can ya do. Thank you for answering our question though.

Ahh, ok, that’s my bad - I read your question with the wrong lens, wasn’t thinking about a public laundromat. Sorry about that.

I hate to even say this but years ago I was doing laundry at BC as I’ve done for years. When I went to get my laundry out one whine dryer of my son’s clothes were missing. I looked everywhere and reported them missing. Of course they were all “goid@ blurred for vacation. The only good thing was that it was the day before we were leaving. Now I don’t watch it like a hawk, but I make sure I’m back before the end time

It's all good, I wish we could have our own machines, but the building we live in is not built for it. It's okay though, gives us time to just sit back and think, or read.

Completely off topic, but I'm heading to Brooklyn in two days to visit my son.

I did laundry every day during our May trip because it was so hot we were soaking thru our clothes and I didnt want to put wet clothes in our luggage I just left it and did not have any issues

The laundry room was right next to the pool so we threw our clothes in and put the timer on the phone so we did not miss it being done. Since we were right there, we could easily check on it when it was close to done.

I would not leave anything in the laundry room on top of the washer or tables.
There were lots of people apparently passing things on that left them on the tables that you use to fold laundry.
Someone took our folding basket and laundry soap while we were swimming, probably assumed it was left behind.

The laundry room looked trashy with all the stuff (pks/boxes of food and drinks) that was left to pass on.

If you leave it, make sure you are back on time or as others have mentioned, you may find it out on a table. Especially if machines are in demand.

We always just leave it, however we do know what time to be back. We are usually back either right before or right after the load being done. We will also leave our suitcase in there if we are going into the pool.

I did laundry at Yacht a few weeks ago. With the new system (scan QR code on machine, pay via card/Apple pay), you can keep an eye on time remaining on your phone (though I always set a timer on my phone for about 5-7 minutes ahead so I have time to get there before my machine ends). I did take someone else’s laundry out of the washer and put it in a dryer (I didn’t start it and put their laundry bag around the door/kept the door open so they could find it) because all washers were in use and they weren’t there within a few minutes of cycle end and I needed the washer. Just be back by the time your cycle ends and you shouldn’t have any problems.

When we were at BC in April I was like when did they install this system? I also did a tutorial for a family who didn't speak English. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sometime between December 2022 (our previous trip) and last month! 😂 Also, glad I actually planned ahead and brought my own Tide and dryer sheets this time because now they only have whatever the one “green” option is in the vending machine.
