Laughs, Memories, Fun, Friends – with Cocktails! **NEW...Really! 7/25 p.7**

Thursday May 17:

Today was the day I was leaving for Walt Disney World. You’d think one would be bouncing around the house in excitement because of it. But not me. Yes, I was going to Disney for 3.5 days and seeing a friend I hadn’t seen in 2 years, but I had a long nervewracking day ahead of me.

It was the first day for me to see my new speech clients. Well, one wasn’t new for me – but I hadn’t seen him for close to 2 months. The other one was brand new and I was completely freaked out and nervous for our session.

Turns out I had good reason to be.

They went horribly. Absolutely positively horrible. My supervisor kept butting in to do it for me. I sat there wanting to cry and wishing it was 4pm.

Then my final session ended at 4. Finally. Now on normal days I usually high tail it out of the clinic to get home. I hate it there. The whole building screams stress to me. So on this day especially, I was itching to get out of dodge. I needed Disney to “take me away” (remember those calgon commercials… “Calgon, take me away!”)

The good news is the entrance to the Turnpike is literally 5 minutes from the clinic so I was on the road in no time. And despite my fear that I’d be in terrible traffic, it wasn’t that bad at all!

**Random thought: To keep me busy, I listened to some of my Disney park music on CD. Do any of you have the Magic in the Streets Album? It is the CD with all the parade music on it – Share a dream come true, the MGM and AK parades? Well if you do, I’d like you to get it out. Go to the AK parade music and wait til the end when Donald shows up for his part. Go ahead and play it. Then come back to me. I’ll wait.

Ok, so is it me or does Donald say “How the H E L L you doing?” in his opening line? :confused3 **

I was making great time. Amazing time. And then it rained. Right around mile 200 (my exit is 249). Great. But luckily it stopped and continued to just drizzle on and off until I got to my exit! I made it! :woohoo:

I called Amanda to tell her I’d be there in a few minutes and she said she’d meet me in the lobby.

Finally I saw the “arches”. Of course, I forgot to get my camera out of the bag and there were tons of cars merging onto the road with me so this is the lovely shot I got.

DSC00229.jpg

In no time, I was pulling into Pop and hugging Amanda in the lobby! Yay! Now the fun can really begin!

We decided to drive over to our building, 50’s building #2, where I could unload my car. A couple shots of our building:

Then we were off to Publix. We went to the older Publix on the corner of 192 and 535. In addition to grabbing some subs for dinner, we also got potato chips and cookies, soda, water, and Beer. The necessities.

Now I decided since I had no change for the toll (which didn’t accept SunPass), we would go the “old way” which means the way we would head to Disney when we were CP’s. I thought about just going the way I knew would get us there but then I thought, nah, I’ll just follow the signs.

Big Mistake.

About 20 minutes later and a detour around the All Star Resorts, I finally made it back to Pop.

After a quick detour through the lobby for a spoon for Amanda and a birthday button for me, we were on our way to the room.

The plan for tonight was to head to Pleasure Island and meet up with a friend of mine who also used to work with me at Epcot. Amanda and I both had to shower and get beautiful and eat so it took a decent amount of time. We finally got in line for the bus around 10:30. And we actually made it to PI somewhere close to 11:15. And then we still had to buy tickets. Which, thanks to the DDE, got us ½ off admission for both of us! :thumbsup2

We quickly found my friend, Aaron, who took us to Mannequins where he was to buy me my birthday drink. It was some special, can’t remember the name, but it had Cranberry juice, vodka, triple sec and sweet and sour and something else. Good but sweet. So while we are waiting at the bar, a very, umm, happy, young man notices my bday button.

And decided to buy me a shot. Of Tequila. Petrol (sp?) Tequila.

**I do not do shots. I have never been a shot girl. Can’t do them and have no desire to do them.**

But now here is this stranger, who just bought me a $10 shot so I have to drink it. I got almost all of it down. Aaron finished the rest.

Then Aaron decided we needed to do another shot because he and Amanda want to do one with me.

Uh-oh.

Hi I’m Shannon, and I’m drunk. And I’ve been here less than 15 minutes. :upsidedow

I needed to get out of there ASAP before more happy men decided to buy me drinks or shots so we headed to the Beach Club for some music. And a mini photo shoot:

DSC00230.jpg

Ok, this is a weird pic. No idea what he is doing to my neck, but I liked it because you couldn't see all my chins  :
DSC00231.jpg

DSC00235.jpg

Then we booked it to 8Trax where we got our dance on (and maybe had a couple more drinks). We closed the night here and headed outside.

Aaron was in no condition to drive so he was coming home with us to Pop. He was fine with that and we were on our way to the buses.

We get to the exit of PI and I turn around…”Where’d Aaron go?”

He was literally right behind us. I had just seen him. Granted it was crowded and we all had imbibed quite a bit, but still, he was right behind us. I was only concerned that he decided to drive anyway which I'm sad to report he has done in the past (not while I was around). So I kept texting and calling him on his cell when finally he tells me he took a taxi home because he had lost us. At least he didn't drive.

So that meant Amanda and I needed to book it to the buses which looked to be a good 3.8 miles away. We made it and were the only ones on the bus!

Which means it's picture time!

OK...finally jumping on the Shannon Train!! Great start so far! Clubbing....The stories I could tell. When my best friend and I were regulars a few years back we always seemed to get "housed" by the very "excited" gentlemen!! :lmao:

Your off to a great start! I am glad that your trip down there went smoothly! I am looking forward to the rest!:thumbsup2

looks like you guys had a blast at PI!!! and you were in our building, too! we had room 2303. what a coincidink! looking forward to more.....:goodvibes

WOW! Looks like y'all had a blast! I haven't been "out" like a big girl in YEARS.
Methinks Aaron was nibbling your neck! Is he a vampire :cool2: ??

I LOVE your hair! And you have a lovely one chin! You are SUCH a cutie :cutie:

Can't wait for MORE! Make it snappy, we don't mind the shameless plug on the other thread.

They went horribly. Absolutely positively horrible. My supervisor kept butting in to do it for me. I sat there wanting to cry and wishing it was 4pm.
Oh no, what a way to start! It’ll get better!

Ok, so is it me or does Donald say “How the H E L L you doing?” in his opening line? :confused3 **

Patron, maybe? That’s the good stuff, or so I’ve heard. ;) Question: was it an actual shot glass? When I first moved down here, I was floored by the fact that they don’t allow shot glasses in bars. So a “shot” comes in an on-the-rocks glass. Who the heck can down one of those???

You’ve got me all nostalgic now… I miss 8Trax!!

No kidding...back in the day, I was all over it. Now it completely grosses me out. No thank you!

Your off to a great start! I am glad that your trip down there went smoothly! I am looking forward to the rest!:thumbsup2

I'm so glad that I had a smooth trip and I made much better time than I expected. Definitely made up for the rest of the day I had had.

Too funny! We were in 2237, the corner room in my pic.

Decent location although there are better - and definitely worse!

Heck, I haven't been out like a big girl for years either! It felt good to let loose and I got my fix for awhile. Aaron was most definitely not nibbling on my neck

Thanks for the hair compliment. It was behaving there much better than at home. I think its the water. :confused3

I'll try to get another one out by the end of the long weekend!

Great first night :goodvibes

Thanks it was a blast! :cutie:

Yes Patron! That was it! Yuck is all I have to say. If that was the good stuff, I'd hate to taste the bad stuff. It was in a small plastic cup, but probably held 2 real shot glasses worth of alcohol. :scared:

8Trax was always my favorite when I was a CP - and still is! Who can dance to all that techno garbage? Plus I had forgotten my glow sticks at home so 8Trax it was! And 80's night to boot!

Thanks for reading everyone! Have a great Memorial Day Weekend! :cutie:

OK! Well, I'm caught up here! I feel so behind on everyhting after being gone. Great first installment! I am so sad we didn't get to see each other while we were there. I can't wait to read about what you were doing while we were doing what we were doing. :rotfl:

Day 2 Part 1

I forgot to mention in my 1st installment that Amanda and I didn't get our butts to bed until close to 3:30 A.M.!!!

But we still managed to wake up to Mickey and Stich at 8:30. I was up first and in the shower while Amanda snoozed some more. Actually I was up even before the alarm. That tends to happen to me sometimes when I have had a few too many cocktails. I was feeling slightly hungover. But I immediately took some Tylenol and chugged a bottle of water and I felt better already...for the time being anyway. :rolleyes1

Amanda's friend (who used to work for Disney but doesn't anymore) was meeting us at Pop at 10:00 and she was right on time! And Amanda and I were both ready to go after eating a very healthy breakfast of Coke, cookies and chips :thumbsup2

Hey, it's vacation. At home I usually only have the cookies and Coke. ;)

Our mission that morning was Animal Kingdom and a trip to meet the Yeti! Anything else we got done at AK was "just gravy" as Amanda put it. We parked in Goofy 28 or somewhere really far from the entrance and made it through security. But we all needed to buy tickets still. I got myself an AP thank you very much.

Finally we made it through the turnstiles and started walking towards the Tree of Life when I felt it. The hangover was back. My head was pounding. I just kept ignoring it. We made it to Everest and grabbed some FP but had about an hour and a half to kill so we headed towards DinoLand. Amy, Amanda's friend wanted to ride Dinosaur so that was where we were heading.

Now there are a lot of rides that freak me out. And then there are rides that freak me out and I will never in hades ride them. Ever. Well Dinosaur freaks me out. Every single time. Yet I 100% choose to ride it. It's like its not even an option not to ride. :confused3

Anyway, the wait was about 10 minutes and in no time we were on our way to get the dinosaur whose name I totally forgot. I took a ghetto picture of the picture they take:

After you look at me, check out the guy in the front row. What ride is he on? :confused3

DSC00240.jpg

That is pretty much how I looked the entire ride. :scared1:

After Dinosaur, the headache that had gone away came back. So the logical thing to do would be to ride Primeval Whirl. :upsidedow

The wait was close to 20 minutes which I normally would not wait in but the other girls wanted to ride it so there you go. I can take or leave this ride. Usually I leave it.

After a bathroom break and some more snacks (more cookies and chips :rolleyes1 ) it was time to "get our ride on" (someone watched way too much Stacy in the hotel room)

DSC00239.jpg

I rode with a stranger while Amanda and Amy (the everest virgins) rode behind me. Before I show you the pic I took of the ride pic, let me tell you that I  this ride and only remember smiling and laughing the entire time. Which is why it came as such a surprise to see myself looking like this in the picture:

DSC00241.jpg

After Everest my headache was back again and we were all in need to some real food. Not just chips and cookies. So on our way out we stopped for some frozen slushies! The straw/spoon they give you at AK with your slushie is the cutest thing and almost like a free souvenir. Of course you had to buy a $5 drink to get it. But still. It is a plastic straw with a spoon on the end. And safari pluto is hugging the straw. Too cute.

After an uneventful trek to the parking lot, the three of us were ready to see the world at Epcot!

As we were pulling into the Epcot parking lot, a CM asks us if we would like to park closer.

Ummm Yes Please!

We had just received a Magical Moment and were instructed to drive all the way past the losers that didn't receive a magical moment. A nice CM lady whose name has escaped me told us to park in row 27 right on the end and gave us buttons proclaiming us Honorary Citizens of Walt Disney World.

They might as well of given us ownership rights to the entire Walt Disney Company - that is how excited we all were.

A short walk and a few Loser signs to the tram riders later, we were inside Epcot!

DSC00246.jpg

We still had some time before our lunch ADRs in Mexico so we grabbed some FP for Soarin', rode Figment, and took some pics of the awesome flower and topiary displays:

DSC00248.jpg

DSC00252.jpg

We made it to Mexico where we had a crappy table next to the kitchen. Was that our punishment for showing up 20 minutes early?

DSC00255.jpg

The food was decent though. Not the best Mexican by any means. But it definitely got the job done and were were ready to conquer the world. Or at least World Showcase.

Who can dance to all that techno garbage? Plus I had forgotten my glow sticks at home so 8Trax it was! And 80's night to boot!

me!!!! :wave2: i hate to admit it, but i'm an ex-raver. sad, isn't it? oh, the memories. i just realized that was about 11 years ago..... but it was fun while it lasted! everyone joked at our wedding that we'd drop the lights and have johnny (one of DH's groomsmen) dance to techno with glow sticks for the pre-wedding entertainment. that would've been a unique wedding experience!!! nowadays i'll dance to whatever makes my groove thing move......cause i like to move it, move it! :lmao:

how exciting that you're an honorary citizen!!! and you're right.......tram riders are such losers!!! :lmao:

the picture of dinosaur is hilarious! maybe the guy in the front had been to PI and had a few drinks just like you but still had his buzz or something! hope your headache went away at epcot. i've already planned for the next trip that the day after our PI night we're going to MGM, which means we'll get to sleep in as i've determined MGM to be a second-half-of-the-day kind of park. ;)

can't wait for the next installment!

Love the Dinosaur photo it's hilarious :lmao: I must do the whole photo of the ride photo this time :thumbsup2 And 3.30am :faint: I would still be in bed :rotfl2:

Wowee i finally caught up and you're back, where have I been?:lmao: Anyway, it sounds like the adventures have well and truly begun, I can see me going to a park hungover in August actually, thats what The Girly Tour is all about:goodvibes Keep up the great work, I've got a feeling its gonna get a whole lot more interesting. I must go find your other trippie while I rememberpopcorn::

Loving your trippy so far - sounds like you had a blast at PI. We've only ever done AC there (Kungaloosh!) but 8Trax sounds like fun :thumbsup2

Love your Dinosaur ride photo - that guy in the front was not on the same ride as you peeps :confused3

Shannon! I'm all caught up and may I say that I just couldn't hang with you guys!

Just the thought of those drinks and riding Dinosaur and EE the next morning makes me wanna barf. I only had 2 (maybe 3) cups of coffee and once that was frapped by those rides, I was a little ill for the rest of the morning. It stinks getting old.

Anyway...sounds like a fun time with old friends and I love your pictures from Epcot. I would love to go during the flower festival some time.

Great installments and keep on writing ya big LGMH thief!

That guy in the front row of your dinosaur picture is kinda creepy looking, as in a Disney Stepford guest way.

Great Report, I can't wait to read more!

OMG Shannon! That guy in your Dinosaur picture is cracking me up! He had his happy pill that morning, or something. :rotfl: Wow! Riding EE with a hangover? Don't know if I could do that. If I ride it twice in a row, I'm suffiently shaken up without the hangover! Loving your report! Going to go post my first installment now. ;)

:rotfl: Not sad but I always find them so funny to watch. Like the ones that are all serious with their eyes closed and swinging their glow sticks around. Thanks for reading!

That is a very good idea! I still don't know what was up with that guy. I mean, seriously.

Love the Dinosaur photo it's hilarious :lmao: I must do the whole photo of the ride photo this time :thumbsup2 And 3.30am :faint: I would still be in bed :rotfl2:

I'm weird that way. Many times after a few drinks the night before and a late night, I'm up super early. :confused3 Thanks for reading!

I was so lost that night, I don't even remember seeing the AC :rolleyes1 I really wanted to try a Kingaloosh too. Oh well, maybe it was better that I didn't have one.

Well I'm proud to say that I have a stomach of steel. Pretty much nothing upsets my stomach. I once had some bad pistachios right before bed and woke up violently ill around 3am. By lunch time I was ready for a burger.

That guy in the front row of your dinosaur picture is kinda creepy looking, as in a Disney Stepford guest way.

Thanks for stopping by! I think the girls I was with definitely were not up for riding it again - and one of them didn't even go out with us the night before!

Ok Shannon, I am all caught up!!! How did I miss coming aboard until now??? :confused3

Love all the pics, especially Dinosaur. Tell me, what kind of ride is Dinosaur and will my motion "sensitive" tummy make it through??? I want to try some rides, however NOT Soarin'. (Yes, I have a "height issue".) I am determined to try Everest and Rockin' Roller Coaster however. I'll just take LOTS of pills before hand!!! :rotfl2:

Waiting semi-patiently for more.:rolleyes1
