I just recently found this website (thanks to all of you) and I'm really excited about all the things that they have. I was planning on buying a bunch of stuff (autograph book, lanyard, pins, pressed penny book, epcot passport, etc.) to box up and give to my daughters as a surprise on the plane ride down. I figured I was going to buy the stuff in the parks anyway so I may as well get a head start so I have more money when I actually get there. I'm just wondering if the prices are pretty much the same as in the park. I saw that they aren't affiliated with Disney so I don't know if they have huge mark-ups on the stuff. As much as I want to buy these things in advance I don't want to pay way more then I would in the parks. Thanks in advance if you can help me out.

In general, if an item is on-line and is currently for sale at WDW, the on-line price is substantially higher than at the parks.
(It quite evident in "fixed-price" items like CDs.)

The on-line seller must make a profit, and that's certainly fine.
Don't forget you will also have to pay "postage and handling".

So if you are trying to save money (and you are already making a trip to WDW), buying current merchandise on-line is not a good plan.

But, if you NEED some items and they are on-line... GO for it.

I have bought on-line many times when I found I needed something.
Sometimes "price" is not the important issue.

I have seen some of the things on that site....about 2 weeks ago they were selling the Disney messenger bag that I saw at POP's gift shop - - it was $20.00 more on the website.

I'm going to go price a few things now...

They are selling the blue autograph book for $10.73 - - it's between $6.00 & $6.50 in Disney.

Unless you really need the stuff now - - I would wait until you get to Disney. It is fun to browse the gift shops & pick stuff out - - & there is a wide variety to choose from.

I like laughingplace.com as well, but there prices are much higher than Disney's.

You can always get an item description from that website and call Walt Disney World mail order directly and order the stuff you want with no mark up, just tax and shipping. :thumbsup2

I did this!!! I also found thelaughingplace and thought WOW, Disney merchandise from the parks at my FINGERTIPS!!! I was so excited--until I saw the markup!! If you know what you want--autograph books, lanyards, etc.--you can call WDW Merchandising and they will send you the same stuff for the price you'd pay in the parks (plus s&h of course). I've never been disappointed!!!!!

Yes, they have to mark it up quite a bit since they actually go into the parks and buy the item at the same price you would in the parks. It can be substantial but I know why they have to do that.

I would find out the total price if you purchased online and compare to if you made the phone call to Disney. I have found sometimes laughingplace is cheaper for a cd or something small like that because they charge $3 shipping and Disney charges $10. I also get a 15% discount for subscribing to the laughingplacestore newsletter.

I have bought items both ways.

I would also suggest calling Disney Merchandising to get the items you want. They are very helpful and you are not paying extra money for it. I have used them twice and have had no problems.
