DH, DS and I were discussing our somewhat complicated Christmas Break vacation this evening. 6-night RCCL cruise, followed by one night stay at Kidani on Dec 24, then moving to Universal for a couple Harry Potter days. The one-night at Kidani is to (1) keep costs down a little bit by using points and (2) provide an opportunity to do laundry "for free" between the cruise and Universal. We're also looking forward to Christmas Eve dinner at Citrico's and Christmas breakfast at Boma. But that laundry task is looming large. . .

I was reminding them that we might not be able to get into our villa until 4 pm-ish, or even later. Which would really cramp our style in having an enjoyable Christmas Eve - we're hoping to be able to go to TOTWL for fireworks after dinner. So as we're talking about waiting in the Kidani lobby, I joked, "Well, we can always start dividing out our laundry in the lobby. Four piles, for warms and colds, darks and lights. Maybe that will encourage them to get our villa ready." From that joke, it got more and more ridiculous. We were cracking up!!!

Of course, we know staff will be working as hard as they can to turn over villas. And we will make do with whatever happens, and be happy with our villa.

But the mental picture of us dividing up our laundry in the lobby - I just had to share!!!

Check out the machines the instant you get in your room. Both of them. I did that exact same thing (one night at a DVC to do laundry before Universal) and the dryer didn't work. And it was laundry night. Meaning I literally could not go down the hall to the laundry room and be decent while doing so. And it was very very late, too. Sigh.


But they do have the public laundry rooms for those staying in studios. Free. Could use those while waiting!


(but I'd rather keep the points and pay to do laundry at Universal)

(then again, being there for the food makes sense too...we are doing DVC then San Juan then Royal cruise...and then Poly studio for two nights and will have Narcoosee's and Raglan Road over the same basic time period you're hitting Kidani and your restaurants of choice.)

Check the laundry room and if there is an available machine, grab it. That will help cut down on your laundry time by doing two loads at a time, without taking up two of the public machines.
