  • Tropical Weather Update

    As of September 26, at 9:00 p.m.
We have been closely monitoring Hurricane Ian. Based on the current projected forecast, we anticipate that the Disney Wish, Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream will sail as scheduled. However, there is a possibility that the Disney Wish will return to Port Canaveral on Friday, September 30, later than originally scheduled. We will notify Guests should it be necessary to delay embarkation for the September 30 Disney Wish sailing.

Doesn’t the Wish usually return on a Friday? Maybe “later” just refers to the time of day, as opposed to a whole day later.

Currently onboard the Wish. They told people with flights in the morning that they should move their flights to after 3 PM on Friday. So it should just be we are arriving later in the day on Friday.

Their cruise would unfortunately be altered/shortened.
So again, get less than what you paid for. I mean, the Wish is already the most expensive cruise experience in the Disney fleet, which is one of the more expensive lines in the industry. I'm interested in hearing how Disney plans to compensate people for loss of value. And yes, I understand that they don't control the weather, but they do control their response to it.

We have been on DCL cruises delayed by fog out of Galveston twice, and both times there was compensation that I thought was adequate. Both times we were given a credit that was intended to cover the lunch that was missed on embarkation day--it was more than enough for our family to go out to lunch in Galveston. Then we also got some combination of the following: compensation for a missed port (had to skip Key West in order to get to Castaway Cay on time); additional credit for general unhappiness I guess; very nice discount offered for future cruise (that could be combined with OBB for a REALLY nice discount).

Note that the best compensation was on the cruise where boarding did not even start until about 4pm and we missed a port. The one where it was just a couple of hours delay was less. But both times I felt it was adequate for the situation.

On one cruise we were substantially delayed getting off due to fog. They let us stay in our staterooms, showed movies, had some activities, and opened for lunch in Cabanas.

I have been watching the Weather Channel and the last segment said Ian looked like he was heading south of Tampa and then might cut a path through Florida to the Atlantic, passing the SPACE COAST which would be near Port Canaveral. Hard to figure where it's going but it might cancel some cruises who haven't left the port yet.

They'll almost certainly provide some compensation if your cruise is delayed more than a couple of hours. They just have to wait and see what happens with the storm over the next day or so, then they'll let everybody know the details.

“Credit” or refund

I am wondering if Orlando Airport will close or airlines will not land in Orlando. also wondering about our Mears transportation as we are to day in Thursday stay at WDW hotel and then off to port on Friday. I have the feeling I’m going to be sitting somewhere….for a very long time and then going no where
My plans and fears exactly.

Just got email flight was cancelled and rebook…rebooked for earlier flight, now just got notification Orlando airport will be closed 9/28 to 9/30….doesn’t look like we are sailing….
What carrier were you flying with and from what airport?

In the past, when a cruise was cancelled, passengers were given a full refund and a discount for a future cruise in the next year.

When a cruise was significantly changed before departure (for example, moved from Caribbean to Canadian) passengers were given the choice of continuing the cruise with a significant onboard credit or cancelling and getting a refund.
