Latest update from DCL on IAN

Our friends just texted us from the ship about the delay. At dinner last night the captain said they won´t make it back till Sat or Sun due to the Port closure. The dining room erupted in cheers like a principal announcing no school. He said the waters have been very smooth. Today is Castaway Cay again and they are being given free internet/wifi.

Well, my flights were cancelled twice, airport close, Disney hotel told me they are not accepting incoming guests….cruising on the Wish was just a Wish. No cruise for me Friday. who knows when I’ll ever get a chance to go again…not getting any younger and my pocket book is getting empty…good luck to all that may get to sail and to all travelers and residents in a Florida, stay safe. :wave2: Bye Bye
I was able to move everything to January. Between differences in cost of cruise and flights it cost about $130 more. Look into it and good luck.

This cruise took so much planning I don’t know how I could ever replan and cruise again

To be fair, Disney didn't have a choice. The port is closing and they won't be allowed to dock until it reopens.
Of, I understand. Same with the protocols since the restart. For the most part, in reaction to situations they didn't have any control over.

On the Wish now (09/28). We were unable to dock at Castaway Cay this morning. Captain has been dodging thunderstorms out in the ocean. Right now, the navigator app lists Thursday and Friday at sea and return to Port on Saturday. No official word that will definitely happen. There are 8 guest services desks on board where you can use the phone to call and try to change flights/hotels/etc. We have 5 park days planned after debarkation (which originally was Sep 30) and were surprised to learn that guest services on board has no connection to resort info, resort transport and the like.

On the Wish now - for every person that whooped and cheered there were just as many quietly seated, frantically brainstorming how they were going to get home once we are allowed to dock.

Could not dock at Castaway today due to unsafe conditions. We've been at sea. Cast is doing their best to pull together some extra activities and lots of characters have been making appearances.

How is the ocean right now? Is it rough out there? Hope you all enjoy the extra day or two and stay safe.

This is my first time cruising and I get seasick so probably not the best person to answer. Sea isn't too bad, captain has kept us moving throughout the day, chasing nicer weather. But I did notice quite a few empty to almost empty boxes if bonine meds when I went to get some from guest services this morning.

I just to saw what you are saying that the navigator says we dock on Saturday but the captain for sure told the people we were docking at port Sunday and make plane arrangments to that. He also said we were going to try and get into Castaway Cay on Saturday so I think the navigator is wrong.

I have not felt the movement on the ship bad. It was calm all day since we try getting into Castaway Cay this morning. It was foggy ,had lightning and wind then.

We even just had fireworks tonight for Pirate night if that tells you anything. We stayed between Castaway Cay and Nassau all day kind of doing circles. Now we are behind an island east of there.

But who knows since we don’t really have a time we will be back in port. Things change but I would be mad if I planned on getting my flight for Sunday and is now Saturday.

It's probably slow because everyone is using it at the same time.
They gave people free internet , the first package to make plane changes that is how I got it. Also had people on phones at guest services to try and change plans to get home.

Anyone currently on the Fantasy, or have heard from anyone on the Fantasy?
Our cruise leaves Oct 1 and all DCL has said so far is the ship will be getting into PC later than usual so we will board later than usual.
No word yet on if it's moved beyond Saturday (but the Wish updates are that its coming in Sunday...)

Also, generally... I'm not sure how to even get there, or if doing so would be safe.

At this point MCO is still expected to re-open Friday morning. There could still be flight delays and cancellations though, depending on where planes physically are vs where they need to be to get from your city to MCO. However, if the airport and cruise port are both open, I wouldn't be particularly concerned about travel safety.

Any decision about cancelling or delaying a cruise is largely be based on the fact that Port Canaveral is currently still closed and and assessing for damage. Last I heard was a possible re-opening Friday or Saturday, not sure if there is a more current status. Assuming it re-opens in that time frame and DCL can get docked on Saturday, I expect the Fantasy will go back out on Saturday. The Wish is extended to Sunday so they could get a day at CC (missed earlier this week due to conditions) and also they can't have 2 ships at the DCL terminal at one time. But it all depends on the port re-opening.

We're driving from Maryland. My concern is Ian reapproaching land (currently to be in SC). But also the outer band winds and rain that would impact most of our drive. We had planned on leaving late tonight making it to Savannah, GA around 8am Friday. We would then have to get a hotel and continue to Port on Saturday (hotel could be anywhere between Savannah and Port honestly). We've also considered detouring west to Macon, GA then coming down 75-S instead of 95-S which hugs the coast.

We are on the same sailing driving from PA. We pretty much have the same plans. Lol
We’re are leaving tonight and grabbing a hotel (if any are available) I’m GA. I guess leaving early Saturday after our Covid result comes in and we hopefully hear more from the port. I guess if it sounds bad then we’ll turn around and drive back home.

On the Wish we are definitely coming in Sunday. Our Navigator was updated this afternoon. Saying Castaway Cay on Saturday.

We are actually going to Nassau right now. Captain just said it would be a quick stop, never said what for…gas, food medical?

This our route the last few days…lol
