I know that some of you have been following the life of my Marine and the rest of his unit. This letter was written on March 6th and got to us in two weeks, rather than the normal three weeks.

As of this morning, we not being told of their exact location, but we do know that they are moving toward Baghdad with the rest of the 1st Marine Contingency. So, when you see that huge convoy of equipment moving through the desert...he's in there somewhere....most likely driving one of those pieces of heavy equipment.

Here's his letter (one note - he refers to Kelli, who is his little sister - age 10, and also Nolan - who is his 18 month old nephew):

"Today is Thursday, March 6th and there still isn't much going on. Mom, I just talked with you and Dad a few days ago and it was so good to hear your voice. I know you were happy to hear mine also. I told you that I had just returned from the port. I was there for five days with Sgt. Davidson and I missed my boys a lot. I was so happy to get back up here wih them. We did get to see some neat stuff down there. The big Navy ships would put in and once they were docked, we would off load our gear from South Bend and then we brought it back up to our camp. Don't worry...I took plenty of pictures. When we got back here, I had two packages from you and a few letters to go with them. It was so nice to have all those munchies - a nice break from the MRE's. Everything in thos packages have coming in handy because we have no PX to go to. We all got a kick out of Kelli's class and the little cards they wrote. That was really neat!

I wish I had more I could tell you, but this might be my last letter for a while. I'm not sure, but I am telling you now so if you don't receive any word from me for a while you won't worry. You'll know just by watching the news. I am going to go now...I hear some Triscuits calling my name. I love you all very much.

P.S. Thanks for the pictures - I put the one of me holding Nolan in my helmet....for luck."

Thanks to all of my dear DIS friends for your continued support and prayers. :D

We had a church service last night and when we prayed for the military, your son was one of the first people I thought of. With posts like yours I feel like I have a real connection. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing again. It does mean so much to have that connection; it makes everything seem more real. Continued thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the update. Your son is in my prayers and thoughts everyday. God Bless him and all our wonderful military.

Patty
Thank you so much for sharing your letters.
I, too, feel a connection to those over there now.

I still have to box up the goodies to send. Your son's letter has lit a fire under me. I am going to get it out today.

Those MRE's can't be that good.

I hope you see your son very soon.

Thanks for keeping us updated. I pray every day for his safety, as well as all the other troops.

So great to "hear" from your son again. I was watching ABC last night and Ted Koppel is with the 3rd Infantry...I was wondering where your son was as I watched. Now that I know he's with the 1st Marine Contingency, I'll keep my eyes and ears posted for word on them.

I was doing fine reading this latest note until I read that he's keeping the photo of himself holding Nolan in his helmet...what a special man you have raised. You must be so so SO proud of who he is.

Again, thanks for sharing this with us. Continued prayers for your family...

Twinmom7,
I find myself thinking and praying for you and yor family quite a bit during the day. I admire your srength and apperciate your sharing your letters from your son. When I hear of the Marines actions overthere I pray harder that they are going to return safe and soon. I think of your other children and hope they are doing well also. Thank you for all that you do, and Thank you to your brave son for defending and liberating the helpless people over there. If there is ever anything I could do, please dont hesitate to ask. I would be more than happy to help.

Thank you again, God Bless.

His words about the picture in his helmet bring tears to my eyes and also how he tells you not to worry! Such grown-up words from a young man. You have every right to be proud.

God Bless.........

Hi Patty,
Thanks for sharing! I was thinking about your son a lot last night while watching everything unfold. I prayed for him a lot last night.

Knowing that you don't get to hear from him that often makes me feel real selfish when I worry, since I am getting e-mails from him. It really makes me stop to think that even though I feel so overwhelmed in all of this, there are other wives and moms who have it worse. I did call his mom last night to let her know that I had heard from him. She felt so much better.

Thanks for saying it for me, Pem.

Thanks so much for sharing your son with us, Patty. When he returns, he has to become a DIS'er. :)

Thank you so much for always taking the time to share your son's letters. I had a friend calling me last night while I was cooking to tell me that the news was talking about the 1st Marine Expeditionary group. Scared me to death. If I got that feeling, I can't imagine what you must be going through.

You should be very proud of your son.

Patty,

I, too, feel a connection to your son with all that's going on. We continue to talk about him at our house. Will continue to say prayers too. Thanks for sharing his letter.

What a treasure for you, Patty! Blessings to your son and those with him.

You are building an army of (Dis'er) angels around your son right now with all the praying that is coming from all these people. Let's hope this will keep him safe until this is all over.

I don't know about others here, but I feel like he's family to me now from all that you've shared with us about Bobby. I find myself hunting for your threads to hear news about him.

I am wondering if we send packages now, will they still be forwarded to him since he's "on the move?" I have a package ready to go to Bobby & sent Nick's last week.

Stay strong Patty. You are an inspiration to all of us! What an amazing son you've raised too. His letter was so heart felt.

God Bless you & your family Patty!

Thank you so much for sharing his letters. I really do think of him very often and pray for his safety. He is a hero to me!!!

In answer to Mishetta's question about packages....

We were told earlier this week to KEEP SENDING!!! Our family support officer told us that when they return to Camp Coyote, all of the mail and packages will be waiting for them and it will be just like CHRISTMAS!!:D

I'm glad you're enjoying the letters. It makes me feel good to know that I'm helping some of you put a face on a soldier and making all of this hit a little closer to home.

God Bless you all!!!

Thanks Patty. Your posts keep this whole war extremly real. This last letter really touched me. I pray your son is doing well.
