Late September/Early October Crowds & Weather?

We were going to go Sept 29 - Oct 7 for our honeymoon. We're so up in the air with the details we haven't booked it yet. We wanted to do MNSSHP and F&W festival, Plus that till counts as value season. Now you guys are scaring me with talk about how crowded it gets.

Now I'm not sure if we should go earlier in September, or later in October. We don't feel the need to go immediately after our wedding, so we can be flexible. What do you guys think? :confused3
Dont be worried about the crowds. We were there and it was crowded some days but It doesn't affect us at all. We strolled around the F&W festival. Great thing is you can use your snack credits for F&W Vendors. We had great dinners at everyplace we wanted to get. Sometimes the wait times were longer for rides but we just used FastPasses. That is a great time of the year to go. I wouldn't worry about it.

We dont like crowds either but hey, it's Disney World. It will always be crowded. It is, by no means, as crowded as Thanksgiving Week, 4th of July or Christmas. We had the most magical time there and got to do everything we wanted. I think you will find that the crowds are not that bad at all. They just seemed to increase closer to the weekend. Also remember that this past year was when they were offering the Free Dining so that may have led to an increase.

We're going Sept 30-Oct 5 and planning on the MNSSHP on Sunday Oct 1st --if there is indeed one that day! :) This'll be our first time going at that time of year. I'm not worried about crowds though...I've learned on these boards that the definition of "crowded" REALLY varies from person to person. lol We went on 3 trips last year, in Feb., May and Dec. We never felt any of them were very crowded, but I'd see many posts on here about how "big the crowds were".

I'm hoping the Unofficial Guide is predicting correctly:

:)

2005 was the busiest first week of October we have ever seen. It was pretty humid and rained at least a bit every day we were there. But even so, it was a good time and MNSSHP and F &W are great events!

I think it is a great time to go...that is why I visit at that time of year :goodvibes I'm sure free dining did help to increase the crowds some this past year, but it seems as though fall is becoming a slightly more popular time to go (free dining plan or no free dining plan). It won't be Spring Break/Easter/Christmas crowded. I think it on a scale of 1-10 I would say it would be anywhere from 4-7 depending on which park you are at on any given day. The first weekend of the F&W seems to be popular. If you do MNSSHP stay away from the Friday parties and do a Sunday or Tuesday party.

Like Linzboys said what is crowded to some is non-crowded to others.

Hi All,
Whats August like in terms of weather and crowds? and please explain this abbreviation........MNSSHP.. :love2:

Sorry; as you can see Im a newbie who has never been to the States let alone WDW...........

Cannot wait, but Ive got a LOT to learn about how where and when I should go, stay and travel.

It looks as if Im attending a wedding in Houston in August b4 I slide across to Florida.

By the way, Is it bedlam driving from Houston to Orlando and in Orlando?

How longs the trip.

Cheers

Gary

It not a bad trip from Houston to Orlando, but it's very, very long. Fly if you can.
We were there Oct. 1-8, too. Found the crowds worse than portrayed in the guidebook, and if we had it to do again would go the last week of Sept.

My sister and I are going Sept. 27th thru Oct. 4th, just to make it for value season. We will tour early to beat any crowds.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party--MNSSHP
August weather--stinking hot and humid.
August crowds--first 2 weeks, pretty crazy. Last 2 weeks better, but not as nice as Sept.
Never driven from Houston, but drove from Kansas City. Not too bad really. The highways from Mobile, AL over were not too bad, but not sure about Houston to there. You will have nice interstate driving. Driving in Orlando. Never done it. My husband always drives. There is a lot of traffic, so I choose to let him drive.
