Late Sept--Water Park on Friday or Sat?

My choices:

Friday: Blizzard Beach
Saturday: AK

OR

Friday: AK
Saturday: Blizzard Beach


Going Sept 20-27. Because of ADR's and other planned things we only have a choice of Friday or Sat to go to BB. My kids are most interested in the smaller slides, the wave pool and lazy river, and the "preteen" area--NO big slides and such. We don't even need a chair to put our stuff in, just a locker.

I am assuming that we are better off going on Friday since more locals will be there on Saturday? But the other day we will go to AK-- and touringplans.com also lists AK as the best park on Fri. I have some other reasons for prefering to go BB on Sat, but if overall the crowds would be significantly lower on Friday ( and things won't be too bad at AK on Sat) then I will go with the majority opinion!

i would do BB friday and AK on Sat. The locals go to BB alot on Sat. and most people that arrive on friday and Sat choose to do the MK for their first day so AK should be ok on sat

no problem! How funny we are both doing the Wed to Wed trip! Are you flying SW? That is why I did it--when I booked SW was offering lower fares if you flew on Tues or Wed.

Anyway, I kind of figured that Sat would be busy with locals for the Water Parks. I was just hoping that if I could get an appt at BBB for afternoon we could do the water park in the AM/early afternoon then do BBB in time for our evening ADR at 1900 Park Fair. Oh, well. $70 saved!

We are flying frontier from Denver. Frontier has good deals for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We have the park hopper with water park and free DDP package; we will probably try BB for one morning and TL for another morning. I am not sure which days now; DH is planning the whole trip!

In the Disney line of paint, the color is called 'Alien Green'. It seems to be found only at Home Depot. You need to cut out the Mickey ears. You can place it on your resort door or backpack. I guess all DIS members use these to find other members in the parks.

Oh, let's see. . .where to start. .

The basics:

Lime Green Mickey's are Paint Sample Chips from Home Depot. Home Depot sells Disney liscensed paint and some of the paint samples are shaped like Mickey Heads. Lime green is the "official" color of the DIS boards (not sure why though--it just is). So, you go to Home Depot and look for the color ALIEN GREEN (not Sonic Boom--but it would do if that was all that was there). Then you "pilfer" as many as you feel comfortable taking. Some people take them all, and go back many times. Some, like me, just take a few because I already feel like I am shoplifting!

What to do with it:

You use it to identify yourself as a DISer. Many write their DIS name on it and pin it to their clothes, lanyard, hat, stroller etc... Some decorate their hotel rooms with them. Really anything lime green is thought to be associated with DIS. I put DIS on my Mickey Head, laminated, glued a pin back to it and also put lime green ribbons on it to make it more noticable, and wear it with my Guest Of Honor Badge.

I did meet several DISers on my last trip because of the Lime Green Mickey Head. But I had also been 2x before and never saw a sole. It seems to just be luck. We seem like a huge community, with thousands of us going at the same time, but in reality we are just a tiny part of the Disney Tourism Industry. .

There is probably only a few hundred of us there at any one time so the real odds of running into other DISers is pretty low, unless you plan it. Not trying to discourage you, but many go thinking they will see DISers all over the place and are disappointed they wore the Mickey Head and didn't meet anyone.
