Help! A mini van is $700 for four days! We are a group of six arriving at 12:10am and need to get to Hotel Indigo.

There is no good way.
LAX is the most expensive place to pick up a rental car in Los Angeles.
Taxi will run $80.
Shuttles will run you $15-$20pp and that site linked above does not run at midnight.

Taxi will be easiest if you just need the one-way transport. Do you need a car while there?

Who on earth are you getting the $700 from - that is crazy! :crazy2:

We are renting a standard SUV for 8 days and are only paying $250!

Also, I have rented rental cars from places far more expensive than LAX - if you book ahead of time it's not that bad at all.

The only thing one can say as an absolute with car rentals is that there are no absolutes.

I've gotten great rates at LAX, cheaper than elsewhere. Others haven't. Some get great rates booking in advance. Others find price drops a week before the trip and therefore get the great rate close in.

Some get good deals on minivans, others don't.

Id go with a shuttle company like Karmel.

Yeah, that sounds excessive, and LAX is far from the most expensive place to rent a car. (SEA-TAC airport wins that award!) Many people on these boards have had luck using Budget BCD x474200 on a minivan.

The poster did say "the most expensive place in Los Angeles". :)

SEA-TAC airport wins that award

And see, I disagree with that being an absolute, because we've gotten GREAT rates there. DH is a product tester, works in Seattle, but sometimes has to roam around locally, and so he drops by the airport from his bus commute and grabs a rental car. Really decent rates quite a lot of the time.

The highest per-day rental I personally have seen is MCO to Port Canaveral. But we were using a free National day so it didn't matter at all to us.

OK. I was thinking of the high tourist season when we visited last summer. Low season rates are much better.

If that's a one-way rental, then those are often very expensive.

It was Alamo through Costco, which usually has good rates. Pricing it 6 hours later, it drops $400. Weird. Been kicking around the idea of staying near LAX the first night and driving in the am.

That is good the price dropped. I'd say a hotel is s hotel, moving is a hassle. I'd get from LAX to Anaheim as soon as you land if I were you, even picking up a car, as traffic at that hour is as light as it gets!!

Has anyone used Uber from LAX to Anaheim? We are considering that for our upcoming vacation but haven't seen any reviews for Uber in CA. We used Uber in Nashville last month and it was a fabulous experience!

We used Lansky's last week and HIGHLY recommend it. It was $200 for the roundtrip drive. I don't think they'll do a grocery stop if you're coming in that late, though.
