Just found out my afternoon flight home was moved to 9pm (?!), and we won't get home until 11:30pm. I will have a just turned 1yo with us for his first trip. I suppose it's nice that we will have almost a full day on our last day...assuming ME picks us up by about 6pm. What are your best ways to relax and enjoy your last day while keeping the LO's happy for THAT long without a room?

We will wait to leave room until absolute last minute... 11am is actual check out, right? I've never left our room later then about 9am on check out day. Can we actually stay put in the room until the very last minute? Has anyone done this? Do they start knocking all morning? I think if we wake up, eat breakfast, and then put LO down for a long morning nap (in the room) we can leave at 11am for a full afternoon.

Has anyone had success in giving a LO's a nap in any "quiet areas" in or around the beach club. I would love to leave room at 11... walk around Epcot for a few hours, come back to resort and find a quiet place LO can nap in stroller while big kids play in pool, and then change and get on ME by 6pm. Hope LO sleeps on the plane!

I like late flights, but my little one is nearly 19.

Yes, you can stay in the room until 11AM, you might even be able to request a late check-out time. Good luck.

One big hint - do NOT open your resort curtains and leave the Do Not Disturb sign on your door. Oh - you are at the Beach Club so forget the curtains thing. Many people will simply just leave whenever before 11 so the housekeepers won't know who has actually vacated the room or who is still in there and until what time. By leaving the Do Not Disturb sign out, the housekeepers should not knock on the door until 11. You could even, since you know you will be there right until 11, take a sign with you (just a piece of paper), saying, "late flight, will be leaving at 11" and put that on your door.

Not sure if you have another adult with you but the best idea for a nap for the little one is either pushing his stroller around the lake or getting into the Friendship boat that goes between Epcot and the resorts and the Studios and then back again. Depends on weather on what you want to do. With the walking, you can even go beyond the Swan and over to the Fantasia miniature golf area for a longer walk.

Of course you can stay in your room until 11. Put out the Do Not Disturb sign and bolt the door. You could ask for a late checkout just as a courtesy but it probably won't get communicated to housekeeping anyway and they will be banging on your door. I like the idea of putting a note on the door so they don't even knock.

Try for late check out. Explain about your late flight and that you have a little one. They may let you stay until noon or 1:00 pm, but not much later than that. As for napping around EPCOT, the movies in some World Showcase pavilions might be a possibility or the American pavilion. There are a few relatively quiet air conditioned place where you could hang out for a while. You will need to be on the ME bus by at least 6:00 pm. Good luck. Cheers!!!!

You can ask Housekeeping for a late check out and if you are not going at a busy time or when they will need the room for the next guests, you might be able to stay until 1 PM without an additional charge. Later than that, there is a charge. If you are staying in a DVC villa (you mentioned BC) many have said it is less likely to get a later check out time.

You can request a 1pm check out with no additional cost. You can request any time but the fee is basically booking an extra night. Call front desk when your there to put in the request, anything online or calling before arrival never went into the system.

We have same scenario, but get in at 12:30 am... Then a 2.5 hour drive home! But the flight was super cheap and it is 12/30, so it was worth it to us. The only later flight we tried, we had an ADR 2 hours before our ME pickup at our resort and then hung out in the lobby, gift shop. It was a nice, relaxing way to end vacation!

I have a late flight as well. If the flight is at 8:15 pm what do I do with my luggage between checkout at 11 am and whenever I have to get back for the Magic Express ride to the airport?

Leave it with bell services. And remember to tip

For checked luggage, if your airline participates with RAC (Resort Airline Check in) you can check your luggage in the morning at your resort. Think of it as curbside check in, but the "curb" is at your resort. RAC is open from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM. For carry ons you can leave them with bell services and pick them up before getting on the DME bus. Info on Rac here:

Well, I did that but with a 3 yo. We actually just napped in the common area (where you check-in) at the Polynesian; there were a ton of open couches. I did use an all natural sleep aid (that's my personal choice and doctor approved - Ozzzz's - search kids sleep aid on Amazon) - I just used a partial one). Mine are not stroller nappers or being carried nappers. I was SHOCKED at how well it worked. Now, I know you might be unable to do that because of age. I relaxed and read a book...okay I streamed a TV show on Netflix :) I did read something about possibly being able to use the Baby Care Stations so that might be an option as well; I also thought about riding the monorail or boat for a couple hours but fortunately I didn't have to do that.

If that doesn't work for you, you can get things changed. Check your airline for other flights that day that would work for you. If you find one, call the airline and tell them that this big change (I assume it's big) isn't acceptable and you need it changed. Airlines will change flights with no fee, and without charging you whatever the cost of that flight is, when they have changed the time like that.

My dd would actually nap at the pool. We asked for a late check out as well. Packed a separate bag to shower at the pool before we left for the airport. Put pajamas on my daughter... And ate dinner in the airport before we boarded. She was asleep before we took off and slept til we landed . Good thing we live close to the airport ....put her back to bed when we got home.

All great ideas! Thanks! - We are staying BCV and there is no late checkout for DVC...so leaving at 11 it is. Also, it's marathon weekend and they're sold out. I wouldn't get it even if I asked :-)

Another couple of questions regarding late flights, if you don't mind me hijacking the thread! Our flight home is 8:30pm. We'd like to spend at least part of the day in a park.

1 - We plan to only have carry-on. Would there be a place at the park to store 2 carry-on sized bags so we don't have to walk around with them all day?
2 - How would we get to the airport? Can we just go to any resort that has Magical Express and get a ride, or is it resort specific, etc...?
3 - For an 8:30 flight, when should we leave the park to head to the airport?
4 - Any other tips or suggestions? This is our first late departure, so I don't want to mess anything up!

Thank you!

1. Leave your carry ons with Bell Services at your resort (tip here).
2. Assuming you are use DME, your pick up time at your resort would be between 5 & 5:30. And no you can't get picked up anywhere else.
3. Being the punctual person I am, I would leave the park not later than 3:45 to get to the bus, back to the resort, pick up carry ons, perhaps a potty run and be ready to board DME.
4. Don't be late. There's no guarantee they could get you on another bus and you might have to find your own ride to the airport
