Late fastpass no longer accepted?

Wow....I go several times a year. I spend 15 or 20 days a year in the parks, more sometimes. I have never experienced anything like these occurrences. You had some massive bad luck!
I have never had a CM turn their back on me. Even in the rare cases where I'm frazzled for some reason and probably less pleasant than I should be....
And, when it's something I think is important and the CM cannot help me for whatever reason, GS has always come through.

We have averaged, around the same number of days (15-20+) ...for years. The incidents and behavior happened, during our last two visits...post FP change/enforcement. These werent the only rides, that went down. We were on Little Mermaid and Spaceship Earth when they were "delayed". But, that was only 15 minutes. Ariel sang the same line....over and over

Sadly, I've noticed a change in the CMs. This makes me wonder about working conditions.

Solution...DROP FASTPASS COMPLETELY...LIKE IT WERE ON FIRE!

It isn't needed and only creates more and more problems. Stand in a continuously moving line with everyone else, go to dinner when you want, come back when you feel like it, smile and enjoy yourself.

No, I'm not going to argue the point. It is my opinion, based on 30 years touring WDW. You're not going to change my mind and I'm am not going to be able to change yours.

Very unfortunate.
We were just there for President's week, one of our most magical trips ever!
Not everything was perfect, of course. We had a great dinner at BOG, but you can't see the Rose Gallery during dinner. So, we explained and asked at the bridge if we could just take a look before lunch started on our next MK day. The CM at the bridge was emphatic that we could take a "sneak peek". Well, of course, we went over, waited, went in and were only allowed to see the ballroom, where we had already eaten. I let them know that they should explain that to people up at the bridge. It would have saved us a little time and a bit of a let down, but really, no biggie.
Then, at DHS, we returned to TSM with our FPs to find a long FP line. Waited for quite a bit. I called over to a CM who said he wasn't sure what the problem was, but that we should start moving soon. Finally they announced that the ride was down...but we were allowed to return anytime with our FP. I knew we'd want to try to return as soon as the ride was back up...since a lot of FP holders would swamp the line who would have gone through earlier. We returned a little later and rode without a problem.
Also, the Disney wait times app was acting up the whole time...but I just reloaded my lines app - no real problem.
Everything else was perfect. Smiling, helpful CMs, manageable lines, accurate wait times, etc....

I didn't realize that you used to be able to use your fastpass after the time specified until recently. We've always used them during the window. I thought this was the point of fastpasses. If people go at the correct time then the fastpass line will never be that long because they are monitoring the amount allotted during that time. To me, hoarding fastpasses and going whenever you want kind of feels like cheating the system. I'm pretty sure disney has anytime passes you can buy to do that. Seems to me that everyone who is miffed about this is most upset about being unable to do things on their own terms. :confused3
Don't mean to offend just my honest opinion in the matter.
I never felt that it was cheating to use fastpasses late but I did wonder why it didn't seem to matter. I decided that the only way saving fastpasses would hurt the fastpass lines was if a ton of people saved their fastpasses and all showed up later right when I wanted to ride. It never happened. :)

I hate these stories from a few people! We have luckily never had such issues.

Seems to me there are a lot more reports of problems since they "fixed" the system to not accept late FPs.

You are clearly so ignorant as to the use and affect of the Fastpass system, it is almost laughable.

What is the use of a fast pass system if they don't enforce the times???

If you look up the history of the Fastpass or the original patents you would know it is to keep people in the stores and restaurants spending money, while waiting for their ride time, instead of waiting in the ride que for hours instead of out in the park spending money.

Accepting late Fastpasses was Disney POLICYfor many years and worked just fine.

.

Now, if they'd eliminate "free" dining, I would agree...:littleangel:

Well I for one am glad they are enforcing the times

I agree. New developments are unnecessary and make me grumpy. The old way of doing things is best!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to send a telegram and then play some records on my Victrola.

Are the fast passes lasting longer? If they are I'm glad. To me the fastpass system was to allow guests an opportunity to select a limited number of rides or attractions throughout the day without having to wait in a long line every time. With people running around grabbing up all the fastpasses it became survival of the fittest. This new policy will hopefully allow everyone an equal opportunity. That's my hope anyway. If the times were not important, they would not have put them on there. If no one abused the system, than there would not have been a problem.

I am not ignorant on the matter. I never said it wasn't their policy all I stated was my opinion which in this case clearly doesn't coincide with yours causing you to become rude on a disney discussion forum for seemingly no reason.
I was just saying that the return times seem to be there for a reason, if they weren't there it seems that it formerly wouldn't have made any difference except for the earliest time you could return
Don't know how this thread turned so hostile:confused3

This subject has been being "discussed" for a long time. Unfortunately you just jumped in, not knowing that this subject can cause people to get fairly hostile.

I will say it wasn't really Disney policy to accept Fast Passes late, they just did so to make people happy. But it is truly just splitting hairs. Disney used to accept them late, and did nothing to stop people from using them late. Now they don't accept them late. Not a policy change as much as enforcing a time constraint they used to not enforce.

I love the Fastpass system. It definitely makes my life easier and I think that I get to maximize my time.

Also what I was thinking of was dream fastpasses, but my mistake in that you cannot buy them

Using words like "hoarding" and "cheating" help.

Actually there was a PP who said 'he was guilty as the next guy as hoarding them and using them all at once' so I believe it was the correct term to be used. And I was just stating my opinion which apparently leads to being extremely flamed... kind of petty so I won't be returning to this thread anymore to read all posts stating how an opinion is "wrong"

I answered your question as to how a thread turns hostile.
