We are sailing on the 5/8 Wonder (actually doing the Land/Sea Package beginning our trip in 5/5) :cool1: . There are 5 of us – Myself, DH, MIL, FIL, and DS2. Right now we are slated for the 2nd seating. We have been waitlisted for the first seating since November when we book the trip (through a travel agent). At the time, she was pretty sure we would be able to be moved up to first seating – in her experience, all people that wanted the early seating were eventually moved up. We have a 2 year old that currently goes to bed at 7:30 the latest. We know that he will be able to stay up later at night, but an 8:30 dinner seating is pushing it.
Does anyone have experience with NOT getting the early seating? Also, if you have a toddler or young child, what are some tips with handling the late seating?
Thanks!!! pirate:

Should you not get off the wait list by the time you board the ship, then just go to the same place they direct you for making Palo reservations (assuming they have not changed proceedures) where you can request dining seating changes. If you get there early, you shouldn't have difficulty getting a change made.

There's plenty of food - you can get room service for a snack and then have the child take a nap later in the afternoon. There is lots of food up on deck 9 (pizza, burgers, hot dogs) for a meal or late afternoon snack to hold the child over until dinner. late seating works better for the younger kids if you interested in them seeing the shows - they have a better shot of being awake at 6:30 than 8:30. Like others have said (on other threads), dinner for the child is just another meal, but the shows - you don't get those at home.
