Marathon Weekend 2027

Managed to register myself and my daughter through a charity! Thanks for the link to the directory, I saw that an organization that is near and dear to us had 5k bibs so I grabbed them. My mom has multiple myeloma, and it felt right to go through the MMRF. Now I have no idea how it all works with predicted time/corral placement/waivers because its not connected to my runDisney account, but I'm sure it's not a huge deal and we will figure it out.

I hear you but I wonder if the early waiting room open was to lessen the crush on the servers when everyone in the world starts trying to join at 9:45. I mean, I'm not an IT guy so maybe that's not even a thing but seems like a plausible explanation.
Been awhile since they had a server crash. It's a reasonable concern but I just think opening it up that early is overkill. It gets everyone in a panic, pushing people to spend their entire morning going crazy over this, and if you don't get in you just wasted most of the morning.

I am hopelessly behind, I think about 30 pages. So going to drop this in and then catch up. Hoping to see that many, if not all, got what they wanted!

First - the thoughts on John Cusack, as a straight male, I co-sign!

Second - SAFD
I simply could not come up with my top 3 live action, so I decided to categorize it to feel better about my selections. For my IP category that was easier for me.
Live Action:
-Remember the Titans
-Cool Runnings
-Miracle

IP:
Rogue One
Guardians of the Galaxy
The Muppets (2011)

Third - Registration…
Well I got lucky, given I was in a parking lot of doctors office on public Wi-Fi and cellular. Between my DW and I we got what we wanted: Dopey for me (sort of), Dopey for DD#2, Dopey for FSIL, 5k for DD#1. My dopey Registration for some reason - likely the chaos of the moment and my DW and I handing things back and forth as we tried to register multiple people at the same time - has my DW’s first name and everything else is my info. I have an email into runDisney and hope to get this resolved and then we are set.

Wishing the best for everyone!

one payment transaction, once you get to the bottom of the registration page you select “Add another registration”.

I saw many people getting the error once they put their card in, what they didn’t realize is that you had to scroll up past the merch again and click “I’m ready to pay” AGAIN, and then it would free up the payment button.

you can be a bit faster too if you pre-sign in with your email prior to registration, that was 1 of the 6 is pre-populated.

Based on your example, you’ll need 6 total registrations, Person A has 2, Person B has 2 and Person C has 2.

FWIW: chrome incognito worked the best for me
Thank you so much, that is exactly what I was hoping and would be the easiest way. Thank you!

I've been casually observing b/c I want to register for Dopey in 2028 and maybe W&D for 2027. It definitely was a lot less chaotic when I registered back in 2020. MW is the bigger priority, so I guess a charity would be my next option if I get shut out via conventional methods. I guess you can incorporate the charity into a run costume?

I have them in mind for next year. My BIL has been fighting MM for 10 years. I have run for charities before and once you meet their requirements they will send you link to use to register.

My 2026 timeline:
January 11th - Didn't get to ride Everest (again). Need to remedy that.
Late January - In 2027 I'll do just the Half so that my legs are fresh, and that plus a PoT and few(er) photos along the way will allow me to ride Everest, and maybe RnRC Muppet Coaster
February - DS2 says he will come do the Half
March - I decide that in the interest of enjoying the Half with my son, I'll do the Goofy again
March 17, 10:41 - Goofy sells out
March 17, 10:45 - I sign up for Dopey in order to do the Half with my son

March 17, 12:30 pm - I break the news to the DW that I'm in the Dopey again.

March 17, 2:30 pm - I sit here processing the notion that I went from planning on "just" the Full for 2027, to I am now signed up for the Dopey. I had planned on targeting Dopey in 2028, but now I'm in it for 2027.
In. The. Dopey.
I did not have this on my bingo card for 2027...
(Not complaining, just still processing)

Re: registration transfers if you registered an adult who is not you

I registered someone, and their waiver is *not* in my rundisney account and it's not in theirs either. We do have a confirmation email/# and their card was charged. But I was having issues with the payment button today AND the fact that it kept trying to make the person I helped register a minor (wanted a parent/guardian phone number instead of just daytime phone number.) AND the 10k sold out basically at the same time I pushed "pay now" on the first try.

Anyhow, we will probably have to email rundisney about it at some point.

In other news, I didn't have any FOMO while registering for only people who are not me, although I was wondering if DH would text at some point and be all "Just register all 4 of us for the 5k!" This did not happen. And I'm ok with it (right now.)

I just got a 10K bib through the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

I know that I said that I wasn't going to go the charity route, but I happened to see on Facebook that they had bibs available and this one spoke to me. My best friend/runDisney travel partner lost her brother to suicide when he was 12 years old so she is willing to help me with the fundraising. But I can't say that I'm not freaking out just a little at the thought of raising more money.

Well, I think it took me longer to get caught up here than it did to register. All credit goes to the 2019 half marathon shirt I'm sporting today (green and Donald).

I had a laptop, iPad, and two phones going, plus my twins on their laptops and phones. Ultimately, I got in on an Edge browser clicking the waiting room link right as registration opened. I was registered for Dopey after about 30 minutes. One browser on a daughter's laptop was only a few minutes behind - every other browser never moved past the "more than an hour" wait time.

I can still remember somewhat nonchalantly registering with a single browser not that long ago - and sellouts measured in weeks, not minutes. I got into running 10 years too late, I think.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at HH, DATW, and out on the course. It'll be my 10-year rD anniversary and I'm going HAM on everything.

:grouphug: to all who missed out today: I see you and whatever you're feeling is valid. I've been shut out of races before, but I think W&D was the first time I've been shut out of a race weekend altogether and it was a disappointment, for sure. It sure looks like this is our new normal for a while (perhaps not including SpS, though, which has historically always taken longer to sell out), so I think more and more of us are likely to lose out going forward. If only there were a way to allow past runners an early shot at registering before the masses... (runDisney, are you reading?! Loyalty counts when travel slows down!)

As noted, I had been planning on 2027 Dopey.
If I plan on 2027 MW, I think I'll go with a charity.
As someone pointed out earlier, it is roughly the same outlay as Club rD, but the money goes to a charity, not the mouse.
I'm down with that.
OTOH, if I can get into a world major in 2027....

If only there were a way to allow past runners an early shot at registering before the masses... (runDisney, are you reading?! Loyalty counts when travel slows down!)

Past runners or passed runners?
I'll qualify either way here on Team Middlin' Fast....

Quick reminders for those that haven't registered in awhile, first-timers, or anyone who needs a reassuring post that the things you may experience are common to the point of to-be-expected:

-Your countdown minutes will NOT be accurate. It may drop really quickly. It may drop really slowly. It might drop and THEN GO BACK UP. You may never get past "more than an hour." *sigh
I just wanted to take a quick moment to profusely thank @Herding_Cats for this post earlier this morning and the first item specifically. Admittedly, I did not have many browers with with less than the one hour tick-tock of doom but the one I felt had the strongest chance went from 50, to 40, down to 20 back up to 40 and I was shaking like a leaf watching it. I thought of this post and it brought me a bit of comfort and hope. So I just wanted to say thank you.

Oddly enough, I feel excited (to have gotten in for the half) but also a little sad because this particular group of folks here at Disboards are really awesome and I wish everyone could have secured their bibs. I didn't feel this as much in years past, as it felt like so many folks here managed to get in with help. This group isn't like the combative/adversarial/angry FB groups I am in, which contributes to the sense of loss for those here who aren't having a good day. Sending hugs. 💜 🤗
