Late checkout possible?

Thanks for the additional info, Rusty. When you stay at the Peabody, do they make YOU call housekeeping or does the front desk call and check for you?

1) The Front Desk will call Housekeeping for us.
2) At Disney, it is 50/50 whether you call Housekeeping or Front Desk does.
3) If you get a friendly CM, they will make the call for you.
4) In all events, it is Housekeeping that grants the late checkout, not Front Desk.

NOTE: Once, I repeat once, I unilaterally gave permission for a late checkout. I quickly heard from the Housekeeping Manager that this was not in my purview as Concierge.

It makes sense that you'd have to contact (personally or thorough Front Desk). They're the ones who know how long it takes to clean a room, how scheduling works, etc. Yes the Front Desk knows which rooms would be available or whatever, but HK still has to clean them.....

When you call the Front Desk at the Peabody, you get the Front Desk. This is that company's only property in Orlando.

When you call the Front Desk at a Disney resort, you get a Call Center which handles calls from/for nineteen properties, with a total of 22,000+ rooms.

It only makes sense to advise the Guest to call Housekeeping directly. When you call Housekeeping, you get Housekeeping for your resort.

Somehow, the picture of a guest at the Peabody making that call is laughable. Disney, by contrast, makes the guest call housekeeping, which is always a hopeless exercise, IMO.

In my actual experience (vs. opinion), I have been able to get a late (1 PM) checkout every time I've asked.

The waterparks have lockers and showers. We used them in Sept and they were fine. There were even hairdryers there. I would recommend this route rather than hope for late check out, and even if you get a 1p check out, how long does that give you in the waterpark and what do you do for the next two hours before ME (assuming you are using disney transportation).
