Late Check out

When I travel for business, occasionally I request a late check-out. Has anyone ever requested this at one of the Disney hotels? If so, what has been the latest they have allowed you to stay in your room? TIA!

I've gotten late check-out at the GF and POFQ. It was extended until noon at the GF and 1:00pm at the POFQ. They generally won't extend further unless either you pay extra or have an emergency. They are definitely not flexible like Hilton and Marriott. You can NEVER get a late check-out at a DVC property, and often the housekeeper will be banging on your door before it's even check-out time.

I have gotten a late check-out - usually because we have a character breakfast scheduled in the AM. I know the CMs discourage it because they want to turn the room over asap for early check-ins.

I hate to check out late though. I know when I check-in early and have a room ready it's wonderful - and it's because someone left on time (or early)!:bounce:

We received a late check out at 12:30pm on request at the CR

LOL on the DVC - on our check out day at OKW, the maid was at the door at 0745 - give me a break!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Sometimes we're told the resort is booked and no late checkout. We've gotten 1 PM several times and told we could get later if we paid $$$$.

Swan and Dolphin are not Disney properties and Starwood advertises late checkout, when available. We've asked for late checkout twice in the last few years and were told the resort was full. Once, they offered us the use of a hospitality room, but we chose not to do that. We have gotten 3 PM check out there, but it's been more than 5 years ago.

Thanks for this info...I was wondering the same, our flight out isn't until 8PM, I understand however that the front desk of your resort will hold your bags for you while you go to a park...so even if I can't get late check out I won't be crushed.

I asked and was told Disney policy is late check out (1:00p) is available based on hotel booking.

The charge for check out later than 1:00p is 50% of your room rate, again subject to booking. Not sure what the time is if you elect that option. Of course they'll store your luggage for you.

We asked for late checkout once at WL during value season in January of 2001 and was told "No". The resort was far from busy. I got the impression from the CM that WDW only allowed it in extra-ordinary situations. The reason we asked for more time was in fact due to a morning PS at Cindy's.

I was told it's based on hotel booking and how many requests have already been granted. Housekeeping needs time to clean the rooms, they can't give everyone a late checkout. Any time I've gotten late check out (1:00p) I've said I had a later flight and wanted to us the pool in the morning and then shower in the room. Usually granted. A FREE late check out past 1:00p does require VERY extra ordinary situations. WL is a popular resort, it may not have looked busy but they may have had a lot of people checking in that day.

We've gotten 1pm checkout at Polynesian, GF, YC, AKL, and CBR.
It depends upon how many requests for late ckout there are for each housekeeping "block". We were recently able to get 4pm checkout at Swan.

I request late check out from time to time and even paid the 50% for a check out past 3:00pm.

Years ago I was told up to 1:00pm is a courtesy and free.
Up til 3:00pm there was a 25% fee.
And up til 5:00pm (I thnk) it was 50%.

Last weekend at AKL I requested a 1pm checkout and the CM told me they don't do that too often. I told her I had a late flight and wanted to use the pool. She advised that the ladies room by the pool had lockers, showers, dryers, etc. I told her "I don't do that" and checked out at 1 o'clock!

I understand that... But what impressed me was swiftness of the reply. There was about a 1/2 second delay from my last word asking for a 60 minute extension and the "No." There wasn't a "Let me check.... Oh, I'm sorry..." to it. The answer didn't upset me. (We had to hussle a little but got out in time.) But it caused me to scratch the idea of asking for one again in the future. I also seem to remember seeing something printed in the in-room resort info binders on a subsequent visit to either the Poly or YC. Under the heading "Late Check-Outs" it read "We regret that we cannot honor requests for late check-outs." But it's nice to know others have had success with the resorts. It's probably like room upgrades... you should expect the answer to be "no" and be suprised when you get one.

I don't agree, unlike free upgrades, late checkins are generally granted. I suspect the person you spoke to just had a number of other guests call and ask the same thing. Timing is important. In the future try the night before or first thing in the am.

Last 2 stays at GF asked and received late checkouts. In fact, this past Feb. stuck at GF for an extra night and 2 days due to blizzard in Northeast, cm allowed us to check out at 4:30-5:00 pm with no extra charge. Very accomodating, probably not the norm but due to the touch and go air travel situation very appreciated.

It's usually $120.00 - $150.00 for a 5pm check out - and sometimes it is sooo worth it to enjoy your day and not have to be roomless when you have a late flight.
