Has anyone ever been given a late check out? If so did they let you know well enough beforehand? TIA

This is the first time we had a choice to take an evening flight home so I was thinking of requesting a late check out. I do realize that it is never a guarantee and should not be expected.

DVC has no late checkouts and has a higher occupancy than the hotels. It takes longer to clean the villa for the next guest. You can store your stuff with Bell Services until you need to leave.

Only when we had something wrong happen and DH worked his magic. I'm the only case of later checkout I have ever heard of.

Have you seen that the airport Hyatt regency has day rooms available to book for situations like yours? It's a neat option!

A few years ago, when the kids were really little, we were running really behind. Had to feed the baby, changing diapers, forgot to pack up certain things, etc. I called to let them know and to pretty much beg (lol) for more time, and they gave us one hour. But we had to be out and at the desk by that time (I think it was by eleven)?

That is what I knew and figured, I just thought I would throw out the question just in case anyone ever got one. We will continue with our plans to check out our luggage and then swim at the pool and use the locker rooms to change etc. Thanks again!

Glad they were able to accommodate you but that stinks it was because something was wrong.

As I said above, we'll stick around the resort that day. Thanks for the info about the Hyatt though.

Can I just add that this is my first multi-quote I have ever used in a reply. Not sure why I never figured that out before it was pretty simple. :cool1:

FWIW, Disney is testing an optional DME pickup at DTD. If implemented, it would give the OP an option of shopping instead of "just" pool time.

Ding ding ding... we have a winner!! That would be a great choice for us- and yes I did check with DH and he agreed.. surprisingly ;), I will ask when we check in and see if that is available for us on this trip. Thanks!

Disney is smart, give the guests more time to spend money! :thumbsup2

One year in a 1BR on AKV CL, my son & I were violently ill & they gave us until 1PM to check out - I'm sure they preferred us staying in our room instead of hanging out in the lounge. And they probably gave the room a very thorough cleaning afterwards.

So they will give you an extension for special circumstances - but I wouldn't count on it or ask just because you have a later flight.

Just asked for a late Check out last Friday at BCV, was told NO, they do not give late check outs.. they have to prepare the villas for the incoming guests.. Doing a Villa takes alot longerbthen say a regular hotel rm... By the way we were in a 2 bedrm villa so I sort of understood...We went to Beaches and Cream and had ice cream while we waited for Magical express

If you want to have the villa for majority of the day, book another night. Might not be the best use of points but depending on your circumstances could be a smart move.

We once came in to Orlando very early one time and paid for the night before so we could get into the room as soon as we arrived. I didn't want to wait until 4pm.

I was about to post something similar!

We drove overnight so the kids would sleep. We arrived around 5am. I booked the night before and had member services make a note on the reservation that we would be checking in very early the next morning. Room was ready and DH and I were able to take turns napping.

So, no, it might not be the 'best' use of points, but for us it worked out perfectly.

We also had a late checkout once due to illness. We were so appreciative for all their help as we were driving home that day and really needed the extra bit to be able to get into the car for the long drive.

If that was good for your family then it WAS the "BEST" use of points. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Had late check out once when there was no water for showers that morning.... would've rather had a morning shower!!

If I have a later flight and I plan on staying at the resort, I just book the day with my points. I find as I get older, I'm all about the convenience and don't worry as much about the points. Will be going in 2 weeks and have a later flight. Unfortunately I don't have enough points left to book the extra day this time.

Yay for figuring out multi-quote!

We haven't done a pool day on checkout day at WDW, but we did out at Disneyland and it was absolutely lovely. You just have to make sure you're prepared for being at the pool and getting ready for the flight, so that everything else can be kept by Bell Services.

I couldn't agree more!! We were at Aulani two years ago and had an 11:00pm flight. I just booked another day. It was soooo nice to come back to the room and freshen up before leaving for the airport. :)

:goodvibes we always do a late return out of MCO, usually the 9 pm flight, and always leave our things with Bell Services at check out and take the boat to DTD for lunch and last minute souvenir shopping, then its the boat or bus back to OKW for DME by 5:45 or so. Its a nice easy way to end our time there and it stops the kids from over-shopping during our stay. Plus we have been known to use it as leverage against unnecessary spending beforehand. :thumbsup2
