Late Check-Out From Resort

If our flight does not leave until late in the day (5pm) is there a resort policy that will allow us to still stay at the resort and utilize the services even though we have checked out of our room?

We really don't want to have to wait at the airport for 4 or more hours prior to our departure.

Unless something has changed, guests are welcome to use the resort facilities on the last day, even after checking out of their room. I can picture some of the restrooms/changing rooms near the pool at certain resorts and suspect that all of them have a place you can change. Your luggage will be stored for you.

Depending on the season and resort occupancy, you MIGHT be able to get a late check out. If available, it's been until 12 noon or 1 PM at no charge. Anything past that involved a fee. The Swan & Dolphin have much more liberal late check out policies and have this as a perk with various memberships. This still depends on how busy the resort is.

I know this might sound extravagent but I've taken to booking my room on the last day. I try to fly out late in the day and I don't like feeling like a resort-orphan on the last day.

So, I book the room. No getting up early to rush out by 11 - time to use the pool and change, back in the room. Anything to extend my WDW vacation. :)

Based on availability you can get a 1:00p checkout for free. You can get a later checkout (not sure if it's 3:00 or 5:00) for 50%. I guess if I had a night flight your solution makes some sense.

It might be because I was staying at a Value Resort (All-Star Sports) and off-season but I have always gotten charged to stay later than 11 a.m. in my room. Last visit I asked if there was any way I could keep my room till 3 p.m. and they told me it would cost a whole additional day charge ($108).

As a result of this, I'm going to do exactly what the others have suggested and pay for an extra day even tho I'm flying out that night. Even tho your luggage is safe and there are changing rooms/rest rooms - it's not like leaving your luggage in the room and having a room to return to.

We just came back from Disney and I asked the morning we were leaving if we could have a late check-out. We were told we could not because it was a villa. I like the idea of paying for another day, and leaving late afternoon.

I think I'm going to have to do this too for our January trip. I'm running the marathon on the last day of our trip, and we originally wanted to leave the following day but my DS has to get back to school. The marathon ends at 1PM, but I'll still need to get back to shower and change before leaving. I was originally going to ask for a late check out, but I'm not sure just how late they'd let us stay. I guess it may be worth the extra expense just to keep the room for the extra day, that way I could shower, relax for a while, and grab one last bite at Whispering Canyon before heading home... :(

As I am reading all of these posts, I realized that I do not know what time check out is... We are staying at AKL. Is it 10:00 or 11:00?

Thanks

I believe 11 AM is the standard check out time for WDW resorts.
