My Aconitum carmichaelii arendsii, Azure Monkshood! 
The last thing to bloom in my garden, it started opening up last week. The tag says that they will grow to a height of approx. 48", some of mine are almost 6' tall!!
I keep them at the back of the garden against the fence, out of harm's way, since all parts of the plant are toxic.
If my digital camera software wasn't on the fritz, I'd post some pics, but this will have to do.
