When would you rather go? DD and I have a trip planned for late August this year but are wondering what it is like in late April/Early May. How do the crowds differ? Which is a better time to go?

Hi!
I've been to Disneyworld once in August and it was so hot. We are going again this August since my dd is a teacher and this is about the only time she can go. I was also there in late April, early May, also late May and I'd have to say that this is a better time to go. The crowds weren't that bad and the weather was great. I think we had a shower one day that lasted about 20 minutes. If I had a choice, I would definitely choose April or May.
Have a fun trip whenever you go. Afterall, you'll be in Disney!!!!

Haven't been in August but have been in July and been a few times in May. I would definetly go with May the temperature difference is worth it alone. DW and I said after going in July we would never go that time of year again. While late August would be a little cooler than July surely it will still be very hot and humid. Early May isn't the coolest time of year but it is still very pleasant. We can make a great time out of any conditions at Disney but the heat of July made everything almost too unbearable. :wave2:

Ok, something I know about. We went in Aug 2003 because we had AP and it ws our wedding aniversary (10th) anyway it was not a good time of year to go. Rain, rain and more rain. DH and I both vowed never again.

May on the other hand. We love May (1st week) We have been for the past 2 years (and just made ressies and airfare for May 6th to 12th). Great weather, low crowds lots and lots of fun. Really my favorite time of year.

And the best? The flower and garden festivil at Epcot. Super cool, tons of fun.

So my answer? May May May!!!!!!!!!!!! With no doubts at all!

(oh and there has never been a huricane in May, another good reason.)

Oh and May is closer then Aug (unless you were thinking May 2007 or Aug 2006.) Just be sure it isn't close to Easter and you should be fine. Early May is better then later as it gets hotter and schools start getting out and crowds come.

The only thing is grad nights, but that has never bothered us.

I have gone late August twice & loved it. But, I went Late April last year & even with Spring Break Crowds, it was delightful. The weather is just divine. The Flower & Garden Festival made Epcot just gorgeous. Between the 2, I'd pick early May (even better than last week of April, Spring Breaks should be over)

If you have no choice & have to go in the summer, don't be afraid of Late August. After the 3rd week of Aug, the crowds reduce & you can prepare for the heat.

Thanks so much for the info! I am waiting to hear if landlord is going to be kicking us out. :guilty: My lease ended last month and the landlord and I had worked out a plan so I could stay until the end of June when dd and I were going to move to CA. Well the landlord wants us out now. So I figure if I have to pull dd out of preschool (she four but wil be five soon) and move to CA I might as well move up our trip if I can get allt he ressies I want. SO anyway I am in a wait and see mode.

Thanks! (I figure I mught as well make the best of a bad situation!)

Your princess sounds around my princess age. I hope everything works out with the whole land lord situation. I hate living in "up in the air mode." :grouphug:

We have never been in August but have been end of April early May and it has alsways been very nice. Crowded but the parks weren't to bad and the weather was GREAT! It didn't even rain and the heat wasn't bad at all.

Disney, PhD - we'll be at the WL same dates - so happy to hear all your positive comments about the month of May!!

Thanks! At first I was really stressed :furious: but then decided that what will be will be. :confused3 I am trying to work things out with my landlord but am preparing to go. Thank goodness I have someplace to go to. We had planed on moving in June so it will only be more rushed than expected if we have to do it now. On the upside if this does happen I just may move our WDW trip up.

We own at VWL, but haven't stayed there that much. We are back at SSR again because it was the only place we could get a studio at such short noctice. Then we head over to Vero Beach for 3 nights so it should be a rather relaxed and laid back trip. Since we were just there in Jan we don't feel the need to do it all again, but an extention of the last trip.

Mom to a Princess, that sounds like the right attidtude to have. Stress always just makes things harder. If we can have less stress by not worrying about things we can't control, things always go better. :goodvibes (that is easier said then done thought.) :teeth:
