Late arrival-what would you do?

Because we're flying out from CA, we won't arrive until 6:00pm. We will be renting a car (from Alamo) and then going directly to POR. Our arrival date is 9/27. Because my DH is 6'8" tall, he needs one bed to himself (since they only have double beds :sad2: . Our two DDs are 8 & 10. So, I can sleep with one of them, but we need a trundle for the other one. We have made the request, but have been told that they give first priority on the trundles to families of five. Additionally, we have requested building 14 in Alligator Bayou, since it seems very centrally located, and not a major hike to get anywhere on property. But since we're going to be a late arrival, I'm concerned that we'll get the "leftovers" and not what we requested. Any ideas that can help us? Our req's have been noted on our ressies, as well as that we'll be arriving around 7:30pm. Should we just call a week before? That day? I guess we can deal with being far away (if we don't get bldg 14) and go to WalMart to get an air mattress if need be. I really don't want to spend an additional $15 a day for a rollaway if they put us in Magnolia Bend...

I don't think 7:30 is that late. Many people check in much later than that. It also may be very crowded and there aren't that many rooms available to assign.

We have always arrived late at night and have always (knock on wood) received our requests when we've checked in at midnight- 1am-ish. Even at POR... Time of checkin is not as important as everyone seems to think it is.

Back it up with a fax directly to the hotel's reservations desk 5 days before your arrival - when they actually HAVE your reservation in their computer - and explain your situation. That may help! :cheer2:

I'd delete the building 14 request. You want the trundle bed and you want to make it as easy as possible for them to fulfill your request.

If your only request is a trundle bed and you don't get it you might nicely request a rollaway bed without a charge. I don't know the CM is able to waive the charge but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Building 14 does have trundles.

Sending a fax will probably do no good. Most resorts are ignoring the faxes. If you have the requests in your reservation that is all you need to have.

Thanks for your opinions everyone! If I send a FAX (which couldn't hurt!), what is the FAX number? Where would I find it? :confused3

We have the same concerns as our flight doesn't arrive till 11. I thought I'd call that morning and make sure they note our late arrival, and at the same time I'll politely confirm my request.

I have heard (not sure how true) that you should list your requests by your priority and you are most likely to get them in the order listed. With this strategy you could say trundle, bld 14, etc. and then they could fill as many as possible in that order????

We love the location of building 14. I wouldn't totally leave it off. Good luck

If a trundle is your #1 priority, I would list it first and change the building 14 request to "close to main building". That opens up more options and there are other great buildings close to the food court, pool, lobby.

We were in Building 27 last year and it was great.

We checked into POP at 1:30 a.m. the other night and were given an up-grade. Great room, great location, etc.
