The bags will usually arrive approximately 3 hours AFTER you CHECK IN at the resort. So, with an 8:30 landing, you'll likely be checking in by 10:00 and your bags might not arrive until 1:00 a.m. (All of these are rough estimates. YMMV.)

We have asked that they hold our bags for a morning delivery and that works fine. I've done that at Pop Century, POR, CBR, and BWI. We always pack what everyone needs for the first 24 hours or so in our carry-on bags -- PJs, medications, toiletries, swimsuit, and outfit for the next day. That works very well. The other thing you can do is collect your checked bags yourself. You'll arrive at the resort a little later, but you'll have your bags (assuming the airline doesn't mis-direct them).

DME will collect bags for guests up until 10:00 pm (after that guests have to collect their own bags). I've read that if you do not specify you want the bags held and delivered the next morning, they will delivery them whenever they arrive. I've read about folks having their bags delivered around midnight/1:00 am. So if you do not want the bags delivered that late, I would ask to have them held when you check in.
