Late April, early May 2006?

I am plotting and scheming to convince my DH to go to WDW. We have a DS who will be 5 1/2 by then. He has already been to DL twice in 2004.

In 2006, Easter will be on April 16th, so I am thinking that we would try to go the next week, like from April 23/24th around there maybe for two whole weeks! (Yes, I am still in dream mode, so just let me dream... )

My questions are:

1. What would the weather be like? Temps? Rain?
2. Crowds? I know it's not value season, but how crowded are we talking?
3. Star Wars weekends? When would that be? Early or late May?
4. Anything special we can look forward to that time of year?

Thanks so much in advance! princess:

I'd like to know this too! We're also planning for the week of Apr 23, but we may also go a few days before that to get a 10 day holiday (unfortunately we can't stretch it into May). I doubt we'll hit the parks before the 23rd because of the Easter crowds, unless we go at rope drop and leave by 11. Or, go to early entry. Also, Epcot can take crowds quite well, so maybe we'll pop in there too. We'll likely do Seaworld, some shopping, get some swimming in, and basically get rested and ready for when we do hit the parks! The first few days will therefore be our R n R, and then we'll get busy!

This is our favorite time to go. It is usually after most Spring Breaks and the weather is perfect IMO. Most days are 72-80* and we have only had a 30 minute shower once at night after the Spectromagic Parade. Everyone just seems so spirited with the pleasurable temps.
After the second week of April all of the prices drop too :jumping1: because it is the end of one of the peak times.
We are going again April 17th-23rd 2005 and would not have it any other way. We will hit the "Garden & Flower" time start which is really awesome if you have not seen the parks during this time. Epcot and MK are beautifully colored with spectacular flowers.
The crouds were very moderate during this time. We have always done everything we have planned without a hitch. Obvious Hint: Disney knows when to drop the peak time prices for a reason.

I´m glad to see, that I´m not the only one planning this early.m womdering about the rates for the resort, because Easter is so late.Does anybody know if only the week after Easter is peak and than they switch to regular rates or is peak season for two weeks after Easter? We are plannig on a 4 night cruise from the 23(allready booked) and 7 or 8 nights at the CBR.
I´m also wondering if somebody could tell me when it is time to make the room reservations.
We were in WDW at this time in 2004 and I can asure everybody it´s truely a great time to be there.

bumping this up because it is looking more and more like we will be at WDW in 2006, and I'm still looking seriously at late April and early May.

Anyone else have comments?

Anything we should know about in the way of special things/groups that will be in the parks?

Much thanks, :earsgirl:

Well, I'm going this year from April 22-30, and while Easter isn't a factor this year, I'll be able to help you out with weather and crowd questions when I get back. I do know that the last two Friday and Saturdays of April are Grad nights and have been for a while. You can look that up in other places on the boards, which is where I've gotten my info since I don't have first-hand experience of it yet. It doesn't seem to be a problem for most except that the MK closes early (I think I read 7) on those nights.

Thanks!

I would love to hear back from you when you return! Thanks for the reminder about Grad Nights.

Have a great time!
