Do we have any indication of how late the parks will be open in August? As of now it still shows 5PM as closing. Trying to do some planning and would like to make dinner reservations as well but it doesn't look possible yet. Any suggestions?

No idea. There's about 500 pages you can go read regarding the late night AK stuff going on. No indication of when Rivers of Light will start, which will result in later park hours, probably 10pm or so, but of course there will be no new hours until they officially release the opening date for all of that.

Well, RoL was "suppose" to start on April 22 but the hours were never changed on the Disney site. Now it's been delayed for what seems like another month or so.

When (1) RoL get's a new start date AND (2) the hours for AK are updated AND (3) Tiffin's has an opening date AND (4) the various RoL dining packages are announced - the planning can begin. Of course, when the ADRs and FP+ open up because of (1) through (4), I suspect the DIS Theme Parks.. and Disney Restaurant boards will be monopolized with TONS of posts on the subject that will be hard to avoid. I only hope that Disney has the sense to spread out the availability of FP+ for AK extended hours and ADRs for Tiffin's and/or the RoL dining packages on different dates, because if everything shows up at once it will surely crash MDE.

Around that time of year, it's pretty much only open till 5. The buses run until one hour after it closes. I have never done reservations close to the park closing so I wouldn't know if they make sure everyone is gone or not.

Announcements regarding the RoL show won't happen until sometime in May.

All that is known is that it's an evening show and there will be two or three showings.

AK will remain open later to accommodate all the night offerings that go into effect when the show begins. You'd be fine booking later dinners as long as they aren't in AK because the restaurants still don't have their schedules. Any of the AKL TS restaurants will be a good choice and then you can return to AK for the show.

I'm kind of thinking about making this my half day evening park. Hit a park in the AM at rope drop, chill at the hotel in the middle of the day and then head to AK in the evening for dinner and to use the Fastpasses on the Night Safari, Expedition Everest and RoL... that would be my perfect plan.
