Late 70's early 80's girls

When I was little (maybe 7 or 8), my parents bought me a baby blue t-shirt with Shaun Cassidy on it and "Shaun!" in glittery, flowing script across the corner of the picture. It was AWESOME. I loved that shirt. I think they might have gotten it at Peaches, the record store.

I had the same shirt!!! I even had a (GASP!) Donny and Marie shirt in almost the same style. My Dad didn't get it at Peaches, he worked a Jamesway for a while and he got it there.

How about satin baseball jackets and full length denim jackets?

Was I the only one who jumped and squeeled with glee when they found out Anderson Cooper was Gloria Vanderbilts son???

DH had no idea about this. I said, "Come on.....Slap a sleek black wig on him and you're LOOKING at Gloria Vanderbilt." :rotfl2: I loved those jeans, BTW.

Maybe this was just a Texas thing, but we frequently called our hiphuggers "peanut pants." That's because there was a label of hiphuggers whose snaps had a picture of a peanut on them. Maybe it was a peanut shell. They had three snaps, no more, no less. And the jeans had snaps, not zippers. I don't know if they made zippers that short. :lmao: So we called them peanut pants. The name spread to ALL hiphuggers, kind of the way people call many brands of facial tissue "Kleenex." Man, how we dreaded tornado drills. The boys, on the other hand, lived for them. :rotfl:

Roller rink every Wednesday in my custom-made satin stretch outfit!
Diaper pants and genie pants
"box" style purses You couldn't fit anything in them, the handle was on the lid and the thing never stayed clasped, spilling your Wet n' Wild lip gloss and Love's Baby Soft on the bus floor!

I wasn't even born til 84' and i love this thread its fun! lol
Someone out there said something about tube socks and shorts they are soo back again i see a lot of teenage girls wear them!

Of course :) But I didn't have my name on the back of my shirt. Instead I had "I love Duran Duran" on it (I was 14).

I do remember the air brush shirts as well. I had one made up for my best friend at the time and myself that had an airbrushed unicorn on it. It said our names on it and "Best Friends".

Extreme Embarassment Alert:

Mine had Loverboy on the back. I may or may not have tied a bandana around my leg also.

I remember belts big belts ...I had one that was black and I wore it all the time..

and i rolled my jeans up with the tow different colors of socks..you HAD to have the two colors of socks...:lmao:

Candies with both straight leg jeans and parachute or harem like pants. Baggies were in for about a minute.
Oh I remember my first Candies...they had a little gold metal thing that announced "Candies" to all my friends!! I was the talk of 7th grade!!
Love Candies!

I wore harem pants but didn't care for baggies.

One look I still love is skinny jeans rolled up with slouch socks and high heels. The look is fab. if the heels are really high and have an ankle strap.

Pumps worn with frilly ankle socks and mini skirts/dresses is another look I still adore!

I still love "big" hair. It may have involved a lot of time and effort but it showed one cared about their appearance!
And then came acid washed jeans with the zipper on the ankle so the hole was this big: . and Jelly Shoes!!

I remember the feathered clips! I thought I was the coolest kid in town because teenagers used to come up and buy them from me(usually got them at the fair or something) for 50 cents...I was so innocent then:cutie:
:cool2: did you go by Cheech or Chong???

I remember having 'LUV-IT' jeans and cords that my aunt got me from the mall and they came from a store with nothing but jeans everywhere.

I loved my iron on shirts from the mall! I had one with l my best friends names on it, one that said "I love Tito Santana" from wrestling and countless rock band ones! Do you remember those half length sleeve rock band T's from back then?

I also remember Bonnie Bell gigantic lip balm, roller skates with funky laces, feathers clipped into my hair, double dutch jump rope and Smurfs. Those were some good times!

I actually have a picture of me in WDW wearing shorty terrycloth shorts with my knee high tube socks and my high top Chuck Taylor Converse sneakers. :rotfl:

Oh yes the acid wash jeans!!! I remember I was 14 and I HAD to have a pair!!! I found a job (how I don't know) and I went to get me a pair and none would fit!! they were all too small, I squeezed myself in a pair and bought them and jelly shoes than I went and had my hair permed!!! :goodvibes

I want to save this thread for the next time a poster starts gripping about the fashion of kids today. :rolleyes1

Remember how you would have the indentations from the seams down your legs?

I've noticed that teen girls dress like we used to nowadays except they wear Uggs instead of platforms. Otherwise, it's all there: tight skinny jeans, cropped shirts, short jackets, long straight hair.

YEP i remember that I had to have my mom help me out of them :rotfl:
