Does anyone remember a doll back in the day - that looked like barbie - but was like an inch or two taller.... and just looked enourmous next to the Barbies?

Like Darla - or Darcy?

ANyone???

Starr? I still have her she had a friend too.

Oh I think I had her. It was the Darcy doll. She was a model? She was bigger than a Barbie and she had blond hair right? I actually might still have her around here? hmmmm.

Yeah - I think it was Darcy. Im looking at her now. :lmao:

I had Dawn dolls remember those? -they were tiny.

I remembe Dawn, and Glory and all the others. Wish I still had them around, the girls would have had a blast!

Oh yes, I used to play with them all the time at my best friend's house.

mine had a little" go go" outfit
I short dress with a fringe and boots!

Was Darci one that you could rotate her scalp to make her either have blonde or brunette hair? I know I had a Darci, but I can't remember which one you could do that to.

I was thinking of Maxie, but she was probably more mid-80s. She was HUGE! I think I had a Darci like MidNite's...with the rotating scalp. My grandmother found her at a yardsale or something, but she was Barbie size, so I'm not sure she's the same.

The Darci Doll was one of my favs. Mine was a redhead. She had a wine colored dress. I was frustrated that I didn't have more clothes for her. I think my mother tired to make her a few outfits. I still have my Darci Doll. She is actually in pretty good shape. Wonder if she is worth $?

I also had the one with the rotating scalp that went from blond to brunette. Her name was Tuesday Taylor.

I still have Darci too with about 10 outfits. I've checked eBay through the years and prices vary. I've wanted to buy more for mine and occasionally people will sell their collections. I also had Tiffany Taylor, she was the one whose hair switched from blonde to brown. I didn't play with her as much as Darci, Tiffany's hair always got tangled when you would spin her hair around.

I think Tiffany Taylor is the doll that switched from blonde to brunette.

Along with Tiffany Taylor (which I don't think we had) Tuesday Taylor had the rotating scalp.

Funny story: We (well, actually my sister... but once in a blue moon she'd let me play with her) had a Suntan Tuesday Taylor doll. Do you remember those? You could lay her out in the sun and she'd get a tan. Well, my sister had her laying out in the driveway to get tan while she played in the backyard. Can you guess what happened? Yep, my mom ran her over with the car. My sister was devastated to find her doll with an inverted chestal region. :rotfl2: To this day my Mom will never live down the hit and run of Suntan Tuesday Taylor. :lmao:

That totally reminds me of the Fisher Price tragedy of 1979 at our house. We had the castle, and we played with it constantly. One day, we could not find the king, no matter how hard we looked. Then my dad came in from mowing the lawn, and said,"What was this?" In his hand were splinters of bright yellow plastic. That was all that was left of our king! We were devastated, and we still talk about it to this day, giving our dad accusing looks. He always says, "you shouldn't have left him in the grass." We had a funeral, and the queen then had to rule the land all on her own. :rotfl:

There were many scandalous stories involving that castle. My mom still has it at her house. Once Baby Jesus went missing from the manger. We searched high and low, and then something made me look in the jail of the castle. Sure enough, my baby niece had put sweet baby Jesus in jail! The sacrilege!!

Sorry for going way off topic, OP! I never had Darci doll. When I first read your description, I thought you meant Jem and the Rockers. I had them. They looked too tall and gangly next to Barbie.
