There is a rumor that this is the last year for Osborne Lights at the Studios. With the Hunchback theatre reopening there wouldn't be the storage area anymore. But I am sure they could store them on the Backlot. The next destination is said to be at Downtown Disney for free. Guess it helps to get you in the shopping mood? Anyone heard this?

Jim Hill claims in one of his recent articles that a dark ride will go where the Hunchback theatre was located but that before that happens a new wherehouse must be built to store the decorations that are currently stored in the Hunchback theatre at this time.

Here is a link to the Jim Hill article:

Refresh my memory please. Has the Hunchback theater always been used to store the lights? I could have sworn the hunchback show was still there when they originally bought the Osbourne show in to Disney/MGM......I could be wrong you know. {ah yes, embarrassing, isn't it?} :confused3 :)

You are correct, as a matter of fact, when the Osborne Lights opened in 1995, the Spirit of Pocahantas was still performed at the Backlot Theatre. HOND began in July of 1996, and ended in September 2002.:)

It's quite possible that they were stored in a building where Lights, Motors, Action is now located.

Not heard any rumor to this effect. And if they did (god forbid) move them to DD, then folks COULD see them for "free". Can't see Disney allowing that!!
Besides-DD is generally mobbed at night anyway. This would simply add more chaos, plus put a huge strain on the already overwhelmed parking situation.
And-DD drunks and those lights probably would be a poor mix. Can you see folks staggering out of a spot such as Raglan Road and saying-"OH-look at all the pretty lights". Let's have a closer look"

It is sooo beautiful!! Last year when I brought my Mom and we stepped onto New York Street it took our breath away. We both got teary...It is sooo worth going just for that!
