The last time I have been to WDW was in January 2005 (shameful, I know). We are headed back January 27, 2018 for 1 week.

The crowds back in 2005 were almost non-existent! It was incredible! We had a plan of attack, but just didn't need it. We were riding the big rides 2-3 times in a row before lunch.

I'm wondering if that last week of January is still the lowest for crowds?

Anyone who has been there this past January I'd love to hear your experiences.

I was there the last week of January this year. Crowds were minimal except at Epcot on weekends for the new art festival. which is returning 2018. I would say that traffic has picked up since you were last there but probably talking a 1 or 2 in 2005 and now I would give it a 4-5. Slow time at disney are not so common anymore. But still very manageable. Make smart fastpasses and you should have no trouble doing everything you want to do.

That is good to know for Epcot.

We are only getting 5-day base tickets, so no hopping. Would you advise using 2 days for MK?

yes. I would do 2 at Mk and 1 at every other park.

Also don't forget that as soon as you use you 3rd fastpass you can schedule a 4th one. I think the most I got in one day was 6.

Epcot festival was Fri-Mon last year so Monday would allow you to see the festival and still avoid the locals.
